Rims and wheels-please don't be ignorant on purpose

Where can I get some ADM Giraffes?? And a GReddy Super/Cheetah?? And a GReddy hedgehog? Doug, our giraffes are twins! I hate having to explain rims and wheels to non car people!

Yes it CAN be done but how often does that really happen? Even if you're talking with BBS?
Want to see something really disturbing? Ask most tire professionals about hub-centric rings and just watch the blank stares.

Yes you can get 2 and 3 piece wheels, but most people don't have them and even the people that do don't take them apart for the most part.

Does this really matter? Rims, wheels, dubs...
I buy generic 'facial tissues', but I still call them 'kleenex' (a brand name, for those that don't know...). People will call them one way or the other and most, MOST people will know what you are talking about when saying 'rims'.
I'm not trying to argue with the threadstarter, I'm just saying......

"Dude, you should see this new ride! Its got an in dash penguin, and paddle snails on the steering wheel! Oooohh! A fully programable three-toed-sloth! And High Intensity Koala headlights! And..."
Seriously, that could go on.
Anyways, I try to use "wheel" instead of "rim" where I can. But in common usage, they are pretty interchangeable. We know better because we have been car-savy for more than 15 minutes. A lot of others don't, or don't care.

i.e. hubcap (not even a true desciption for a wheel cover, but closer to a center cap), wing, bra all are slang car parts your not complaining about them why then does rim bother you so much

my point exactly... thank you guys lol if you are talking to dealer your wanting to buy wheels from i wouldnt call them "rims", but if its on scionlife i dont think your going to get the "why are you complamenting the rim of my wheel?" comment for saying nice rims... its just a little over the top to even care what slang people use...
