yeah every one of the winners was supposed to be randomly picked but in all reality the majority were hand picked.

Wow, I didn't know about the handpicked stuff. Did they say that when they started the contest? O r just kinda did it along the way? Oh well, guess I'm not valuable enough.

where does it say that it wasn't random? The entire thing was suppose to be completely random with no input from anyone but the agency handling the(well raffle). I'm not that disappointed since its so close to the holidays and i'd like to be near my son and wife this time of year...but we were all told its completely random and nobody has control over who is and isn't picked. oh well. didn't matter either way for me. have fun everyone

It doesn't say anywhere that it wasn't all random. But it wasn't. You can tell by looking at the list.

I know for a fact it wasn't all random.

Yup, you were one of the "Hand Picked by Scion" people, Jon - outside the actual sweepstakes drawings.

Way back at the beginning of this, Darren DID explain why the SuperMods were going:

When Scion approached me about this contest I asked to have some slots reserved for some good friends that had supported me and the site over the years, but Scion didn't think this would be fair to other ScionLife members.

We made a compromise and I insisted that the SuperMods be allowed to attend the event. My friends don't get to go, but the people that dedicate a large chunk of their time to the site will get to finally meet fact-to-face.

The SuperMods are not coming out of the total random winner pot, but I listed them anyway so that they could enjoy the anticipation of the prize just like everyone else.

Unfortunately, it was somewhat of an ordeal just to allow this to happen, and everyone else will have to try to win by registering with Scion. I would love to handpick everyone for this event, but unfortunately it isn't my $$$ paying for everything.

I do not want to make a big deal about the Super Mods going, but it isn't a secret. I don't want them to get treated any differently than the rest of the winners.
The majority of the selections were randomly made by Beyond Marketing, the SuperMods were added by Darren, and the club officials were added by Scion. I don't see a problem with any of that.

Some of the folks added by Scion or ScionLife had other family members actually win, too.

When Darren listed the first batch of "winners" he made the mistake of listing the SuperMods with the winners, and of course people noticed that all the SuperMods had "won" when that wasn't the actual case - part of the 'deal' between ScionLife and Scion was that the SuperMods got to go, outside the sweepstakes. He went back and corrected the way he had listed the superMods, but some folks have not been able to let go of the "It's all rigged!" mentality.

Best I can tell, there are six separate lists of folks going:

Sweepstakes winners
ScionLife Staff
Club officials
Dealership folks
Media
Corporate folks

Those are independent lists, and there are probably more.

For those going; see you there. For those not going, good luck next time.

I think it's awesome that the supermods are getting to go. They put in a lot of hours here and its a thankless "job". I haven't seen anybody complain about that and I hope they don't.

I just don't think there were 300 Sweepstake winner's And I don't think the dealership, media, corporate, or club people should have come out of them. And yes that would have meant I would not be going. But that would also mean Scion wasn't giving preferential treatment to Scion Evolution by sending all of their chapter liaisons.

If it was not going to be a completly random contest it shouldn't have been billed as such.

I know this is going to upset some people and make me more unpopular on here but I also know I am not the only person that feels this way.

I would gladly give up my trip to Miami, as much as I want to go, if it meant this "contest" would have been more fair to the rest of the Scion clubs and Scion faithful.

its frustrating mostly to watch my friends go on a trip bc of who they know or what they do. random my ___

being a MFIC of a scikotics chapter i find that it is way unfair that every SE laison gets to attend, yet only Jon gets to go form scikotics... why were the leaders of our chapters not able to go? and same with NRG and so on and so forth... im sorry but did they think this would not be noticed? people arent blind

SE had about 50 people, nrg around there and scinergy close from what i've gathered. that leaves MAYBE 100 for random. OOPS WAIT i forgot scion employees, and big sponsors who own scions. that means maybe 50 of it was random MAYBE 50
