i got scion security, lojack, and also, the dealership stenciled my VIN number on every glass surface in my tc, except for the mirrors, so the windshield, each roof panal, hatch, and side windows have my VIN on them. don't know how much that helps, but it makes it harder to resell if you have to replace all those glasses to get rid of the vin number.
that's not very smart thing to do at all by stencilling your vin on the glass and stuff. Some people can use your vin number at a dealership and make another key and just take your car away from you.

Most thefts are for the parts if not for a joy ride. Honda's are the favorite victim here in LALA land. Have not heard of much action on tC's

Seems like the tCs may be vulnerable to theft...

as mentioned, don't make it easy for thieves. I think I read somewhere over 1/2 of car thefts are due to leaving car running unattended. If I saw your car empty with engine running and doors wide-open, I'd probably take it too!

In this fast pace, rat race society, people are always in a hurry and a rush. They go by a gas station, Mini-Mart, Stop N' Go "I run in and just something really quick".
While they are inside for 'only a minute' anyone, a kid looking for a joy ride, druggie, opportunity thief will strike.

Mostly, can happen to older cars with keys in the ignition. My newer 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Limited Luxury mini-van has a Smart Ignition if you step away it'll display a message, "Key Fob Not Detected" and someone else cannot drive off with it.
But, regardless, I don't leave the van running. It also has a clever optional Anti-Carjacking Silent Alarm. You can activate it totally unseen by the carjacker. He thinks he is going to take you to empty out your ATM machine and will find a Police S.W.A.T.
waiting for him.

Or if he leaves you out in the middle of nowhere, w/o your wallet, purse, car, house keys and phone. He has your Registration, ID and Address is heading on the way to rob your home,
the Police are tracking him all the way on the Chrysler's vehicle's satellite GPS Tracking System. Similar to the OnStar System found on GM vehicles.

Always Add More Security if you want to Hold on to your Ride. Wheel locks, Car Alarms, GPS Tracking, Motion Sensing Alarms, Glass Breakage Sensors, Steering Wheel locks, Hidden Kill Switches, Gas Shut-Offs...etc..

One of the Best Anti-Carjack and Vehicle Self Recovery Systems for other vehicles is by Clifford Alarms:

"Fully automatic: No buttons or transmitters to push when a gun is involved. Just get away from the vehicle. Quick response: BlackJax allows the criminal to drive away a safe distance. Then, a few seconds later, BlackJax blares the siren and flashes
the lights to alert other drivers and witnesses. It then pulses down the ignition system to safely force the vehicle to slow to a complete stop. Siren blaring and lights flashing, unable to restart the engine, the carjacker has no choice but to abandon the vehicle."

You have to keep at least several steps ahead of the bad guys.

It's the car's fault.......stupid irresponsible actions by the owner plays no part in it. Under no circumstances should the car shouldn't allow itself to be stolen.
