I saw this on Autoblog, now this added info makes it even more haunting that he was posting on an M5 site asking questions. Why Why Why would a parent lets his 18 year old have anyway of driving an there 500 Horsepower sports car.

The irony is that when us "old farts" try to tell kids to take it easy, we get called every name in the book.
Sad, some never make it back.

wow thats horrible and its kids like him that make someone like me look bad and y i have to pay soooo much money in insurance this is why tracks were invented you have the power you wanna feel the speed you do it somewhere that you put only yourself at risk i feel horrible for the families he must have really been going fast if you consider what was left over of the car and the m5 is a solid car too. idk why he wouldn't expect their to be a slight "thud" when shifting...it's cuz you are going way too fast dummy any car is under stress in that situation

Yea, this happened a while ago... it happened on John Travolta's runway... that's what you get when you trespass on Scientology property!

this story reminds me EXACTLY of hundreds of kids i've seen on this very forum. IMO, the similarities are alarmingly similar.

The 18 year old kid... the saying it was his car when really his dad bought it.... the reckless driving..... the trying to be a cool guy on the forums.....

Another member suggested that AmericanM5's lack of knowledge about the BMW M5's transmission could be easily explained: "Maybe your two years' driving experience in your whole life is the problem."

Reports indicate that Ammirato had received four traffic citations in the last two years.

"Thanks, guys, don't get me wrong," AmericanM5 wrote. "I never said I didn't respect your wisdom. Thanks for the welcome, and I am looking forward to getting to know you guys better...and I plan to have all the pics up tomorrow. Josh."

That was his last post.

I think this thread is the most important thread on this entire forum. Hopefully other 18/19/20 year olds will take notice.

hey man don't forget you were one of us 18/19/20 year old kids too and i fully understand what the older guys are saying kids are stupid and we do stupid things because life hasn't hit most of us yet, i grew up kinda of quick bc most of my friends are 22 and older so as they were going through the stuff i am going through now they helped me along the way but yea kids my age should take notice i'm glad i have older friends cuz i look at kids my age and they are just so ignorant and stupid
