i've never met tanner faust, but i don't have a problem with the guy, he is a talented driver, especially when he was power testing the dodge viper in the first episode. doing a 360 in the car at speed was awesome.
from his on air presence, he actually strikes me as kinda dull or soft spoken, like he is a little reserved, but maybe off camera he is a different person, which is believable. but i imagine that lots of competitve people, especially professional athletes and racers have major egos, which they really kind of need to to be good at their jobs since they have to have the mind set that they are the best. where and when did you meet tanner? was it at a race, maybe he was all psyched out for the competition? i'll try to give myself a pep talk at autocross to make myself all pysched out about how good i am at driving, i'll recite something stupid like "speed, i am speed" or just listen to some initial d music.

I can't bring myself to watch it. Tanner, I am not a fan of. Met him in person and he has a major attitude.
I think it will never be like the original. I find the original cast and such's humor very different and appealing in comparison. I can't see the US version lasting long.

BUMP, the second season of Top Gear USA started yesterday, did anyone see it?
It looks like it'll be an improvement over the first season and with that said, I think I prefer watching TGUSA over the new Speed Channel series, The Car Show.

The last episode (2x02) of TGUS was by far the best.
I'm still not sure a high school chearleader unfamilliar with Top Gear isn't producing the show though. Why is the intro outside? Why are the presenters given nicknames (ie: "The Wrecker")? What happened to the theme song? Also, I have my doubts on the chemistry of our three guys.
That said, it takes time and I think we all should have patience. Chemistry will take time to develop. Hopefully the cheerleader producer will be replaced. The ideas for the show are okay, but the writers? need to be more creative. Having Stig parachute in, I admit, was fantastic.
I will remain a fan and give them time.

Just an fyi, the top gear usa episodes and season 17 of top gear are up in 720p on finalgear.com
The show is coming along slowly, just like the original top gear did. People just want it to be the top gear we all love. If will get better and become its own show, and I look forward to the 4th or 5th season, when the guys really start to know each other and banter back and forth like there ISN'T a script.
