Default Toyota Scion tC

Is it just me or does anyone else get annoyed when they refer to the tC by Toyota Scion or Toyota Scion tC?

If they do that, why not just say Toyota Lexus, or Honda Acura, or Nissan Infinity?

Your thoughts

I guess I never really thought about it. Realistically, Scion is a way smaller sub group than Lexus, Acura or Infinity.
I guess three models isn't enough for a legit make.

Although, nobody says Ford Lincoln Continental...

You know what... it is kinda annoying.

Toyota hasn't been trying to distance itself from Scion. that's why. Toyota markets Scion as benig the toyota brand for youth. How it shares the same frame, motor, etc... How the toyota bB is our scion xB. Also they keep mentioning toyota to show scion's quality, and to give it an "in".

While Lexus is clearly toyota to people in the know, toyota keeps their name off lexus marketing and vice versa.

go ask a your local soccer mom who owns lexus, or acura or infinity. they probably won't know.

.01 for ur thought. Since my reggie says I drive a toyota scion xa does that mean in the eyes of the state of new york scion is a non existing car brand? On my scion what do I get with the xa trim level? Is it xa is a grand touring package, xb a luxury package, and tc the sport package? lol

Agreed.
Its all about their targeted audiences.
Scion is a youth targeted vehicle designed in every way to generate brand loyalty in Toyota. Lexus is a brand on its own, hi-lux targeted and marketed to people with money regardless of brand loyalty. Hence the "T" emblem on the tC engine cover and the "L" on the exact same cover over the exact same engine on the ES. The xB, xA and future xD have no Lexus counter parts but the "T" is there for the same reason.
Its also why there are no Scion show rooms outside of Toyota dealerships and you find Lexus on its own and/or paired with BMW/Audi/Mercedes/Infinity/etc. at larger auto plazas.

My vehicle registration says it's a Toyota Scion. Which could mean theoretically, I could drive off the lot with an xB, swap VIN plates, and no one would know the wiser.

LIGHT BULB!
