The truth about the GTR
Fanboi's... don't shoot the messenger...
One of my techs just got back from a special Nissan training GTR deal. Here are some interesting Facts.
-Can only launch the car 15 times before the transmission gives out. The most Nissan has got was 34 launches.
-The fluid lists at 80 dollars a quart. It costs dealerships 49.99 a quart. The car takes 10 quarts.
-The warranty depends on the driving, there is a black box in it just like an airplane.
-Customers have to sign a waiver stating they will not complain about brake or transmission noise.
-The brakes MUST be replaced at the same time, cost for replacing 6500.
-If something goes wrong other than an oil change at the dealership, a special team needs to be called and your outta a car for a while.
So yea. Sounds promising. Sounds fast, for a couple of months.

well, i had some suspicions about the GT-R after watching top gear...i noticed that each video they had of the GT-R, they had a different one.
when jeremey raced the bullet train, he had a red one, then the next day, he went to actually drive it on the track, and he has a grey one, and then when the stig got to drive one on their track, it was a black one...why couldn't he use the same GT-R for those videos? i mean, i know the last one, the stig drove, it was back in england, so it makes sense that there was a different one there, but for the one where they were two days, back to back in japan...why couldn't he use the same one?

I find it odd my buddy with a 950+whp g35 on a stock tranny can launch his every weekend at the track on a 2 step system, and the gtr can only launch 15 times *LOL* Just pulling a number out of the air like that for how many launches it can take show it is total BS. Sorry not falling for it. Same BS was said about the STI, Then the Evo when they first came out. What a crock.

First of all,
Epic.
The price of everything doesn't surprise me at all; it just falls under the "gotta pay to play" category for me. Black box is a bit surprising, but not unexpected, since you've got a little nanny inside the car telling you how and where to go fast, anyway. The "15 launches" thing seems a bit exaggerated, but you have to figure that a single component failure in any part of the drivetrain is going to be catastrophic after a while when you're launching as hard as the GT-R does.
