So, how is the oem CF hood holding up to the heat? I was thinking of getting the Seibon VS2 hood.
What do you think?

That's the hood that I have, except the AIT version of it. I love it. It comes with a rain shield (at least the AIT one does), and is pretty functional.

Holding my rims for ransom? That don't matter. You KNOW I got like 2 other sets!
(Is that like saying holding one of my kids for ransome doesn't matter cause I have 2 others?)
But I will DEFINATELY take you up on the clutch install help. I thought you needed some special kind of tool that I didnt' have?
Oh, and you should come when we install olaHalo's turbo kit, whenever it get's here.

rhythm: How is that hood holding up, heat wise? You say there's an AIT version? Does it have nozels for windshiled sprayers?

318_tc,
Yeah, my worry was the heat. In another thread, they said that CF hoods have FiberGlass skeletons, so it would probably still melt. What do you think?

Yikes! so, yours melted even with the heat protection? Or did you put the heat protection on AFTER it already made a hole?
Also, was it OEM style, or was it vented? got any pics?

So are you thinking that ours with the coating should be OK with a vented CF hood?

No, you have to cut them yourself. Besides, who needs sprayers...

As for the heat, it does not damage the hood any, just causes it to glaze in certain spots over time. In certain spots, the clear coat looks cloudy after a year and half use in extreme weather along with turbo engine temps. But you can take it to get re-clear coated after a while anyway for a small fee, so I just lived with it. Local shop gave me a price to make it look brand new again, so I'll do that instead of just buying another hood. I haven't gotten it done yet, and won't have it done before Nopi, so it's staying home as it won't be ready in time for the show.

At the same time, I'm speaking from experience coming from a car equipped with a Log manifold, and not the high rise EL that you guys are running. So, you may or may not have trouble with it. If you leave the vent open 98% of time you are driving it, I can forsee it being problem-FREE. Also, another thing to think about, I'm not sure how far forward the vent comes, but I know that I use to run a GReddy Strut bar on the car, and had to take it off due to the fact that when I put the rain shield on the vent, the hood would not close because of the strut bar being in the way. Only cleared when I was not running the rain shield. So, I took the strut bar off and sold it to one of our club members.
