hey meaty, java, ola aen or jax you guys have heating issues? Im having some heating problem when in long idle, not to extent of overheating but the water temp goes up to like 3/4 up to almost on High or overheating.. but only happens when having the car idle for a long time.. Im thinking it could be the fan placement with one being in front or could be tuning issue, what you guys think? I notice when water temp on scangauge goes above 225F it starts to go more than half the temp gauge, the highest I saw was 284F. Intake temp goes to like 150-180F too when on long idle

I doubt that's a tuning issue. You've covered up your whole space for air with your intercooler. Try using water wetter and get a lower thermostat.

I still have the upper vent and I havent heard same issues with the other TT guys.. I was thinking more of the ineffective fan placement

Nah - I'm just saying though.. I've been around turbo'd jap cars long enough and it's not an uncommon issue. Mix a small jap car with a small radiator, slap a big intercooler in front of it, and you'll have higher temps most of the time.

Not to mention the most effective fan setup is a pull setup. Pushing isn't as good unless you make a shroud with a seal around it.

X2 on the pull setup, i have on pull and one push and im blaming the push as the cause, i tried feeling the air behind the radiator of the push setup and very little flow plus the ac gets the air first before the rad, on the pull fan, it has a very good air behind it and removes good heat from the rad.. but the reason i asked is cause most TT guys have their fans push type and havent heard heating issue

hmmm... strange. i haven't had this problem at all, and much like you i'm in a hot environment (FL). i also haven't heard of anyone else having that issue. a new radiator cap won't do anything; that just makes the threshold for heat higher until the cap blows off and coolant flies everywhere.

i think i have my fan setup the same as you.. one in front and one behind; i'll double check tomorrow though. make sure your fans are working. other than that, i dunno what to tell you. check coolant levels, look for anything unusual under the hood... monitor it and get back to us. strange that it would get hot at idle (even tho there's little airflow) since the engine isn't under much heat-provoking stress.

Yeah its strange from boost day one to 2 weeks ago no heating problem, since I cleaned the maf that altered my afr a bit thats when it started.. it concerns me more if Im running a bad tune causing too much heat on the engine.. other than that fans are working good and nothing unusual under the hood.. less airflow due to IC could be the reason but if its only me then something else is wrong

Try flushing your system out and using more water than coolant. Water is a better heat carrier than coolant.

sorry for the late response...I got both my fans up front pushing...and the heating issues aen and I had talked about were our air conditioners....during the summer (100+ degrees) our air works GREAT when driving, but when at idle for to long, it just puts out hot air...but I have not noticed the temp gauge going up much at all...

I'd check your coolent...maybe give it a flush...I mean, is it just a little hotter then normal, or is it in the dager zone?

Its been 98-105 here for the last 2 weeks and that when i noticed the increased temp.. My AC is fine though but long idle it goes high i mean not on the danger zone cause I wont let it go there but if left unattended it will go there.. i closely monitor my intake and water temp and when driving I see major drop in temp.. haha I guess at this point my turbo timer will be pointless or even harmful

so this is your first summer boosted?

Is your turbo oil and water cooled or only oil cooled?
