i know macs are "Easier" to use because they're pretty and thats why people like them. they have very good marketing to promote that. thats nice. but that doesnt change the fact that every time i use a mac i get upset that its missing a mouse button and things are made more pretty than they are made useful.
some of my teachers are mac guys, and they just blame it on intel. i honestly dont care about mac vs pc, but when i hear the debates is when i get annoyed at the reasons used for how macs are better. they just wanna make you argue. haha
oh and vista is a step in the mac direction. its pretty but makes life harder and longer (reni will like that one). i have this pc i JUST bought that im trying to sell ONLY because it has vista on it. its an amd 9600 phenom with 3gb ddr2, ALL kinds of multimedia plugs and adapters, a bluray/hddvd drive, card readers, and 1TB of hdd space, on raid0. great pc right? oh yeah it has vista home 32-bit on it. first thing i looked up was how to shut off that damn question "ALLOW OR DENY." omg. awful. even when you THINK you can get it back to "xp" style by pressing the "classic" link in the control panel, there is nothing retained from the old control panel!

My mouse I use for my Mac. Every button is functional. Yes, Macs have right click.

Also, the problem with Macs vs PCs, is that now that Macs are proven to be better at most things, the hardcore PC users (who have never even used OS X) still use the "macs are for art___s' rebuttal.
And Vista is NOT a step in the direction of OS X. All Vista is, is Windows XP with a bunch of useless visual features, poor memory management, and too much security which ironically, isn't very secure.

(Even the original Macs had "right click" with their one-button mouse - and it could be done in several different ways that were all part of the GUI from day one. Remember, at first the Macs were the only home machines with mice, and when the Wintel machines came out with a GUI and mice they were basically emulating the things the Mac could do, but with minor differences. Macs have full control of everything with the single button, MS/IBM decided to make it more obvious with two. Simple as that.)
With that out of the way, my desktop Macs have all used wireless four button mice with scroll wheels since 2001. It's just what you want to use - you aren't forced into one way of doing things.
"Mac OS X: because making Unix user-friendly is easier than debugging Windows."
"It said Windows 98 or better, so I bought a Mac..."
These Mac vs Windows arguments can go on forever, but both are good software and both are good hardware (unless one cheaps out, then you get what you deserve). It all depends on what one wants out of the machine.
(Just like the arguments between car brands, or cameras, or TVs, or oils, or paint brands, or tires, or, well, you get the idea. There will be people on wither side of any argument, and there is NO side that is better at everything: One just picks the one that meets one's own perceived needs and then rationalizes the choice.
Personally, I have no need for MS and in fact have NO Microsoft products on any of my computers.
(...and some of us also have personal reasons for not paying the richest man in the United States to be allowed to use our computers. WHG III's company was once one my my clients, and having had personal dealings with Bill, I have more than adequate reason to have no further dealings with the company. 'Nuff said.)
I'll give both of the originators equal time...

Hunter...if you want, I could try and put XP on your computer if you can't sell it.
about vista being in the mac direction...yes, but only in the looks, and it did it poorly...I'm waiting for Windows 7...
Oh, and I LOVE how Carbon basically said by his list of programs that he uses his mac for fun and his PC for work...it was MS Office that made yoru XP box slow...it would do it to your mac as well...we use Corell WordPerfect or Open Office at work...
Yeah, and I don't have an issue giving Bill money...I have an issue with how proprietery macs are...I can't STAND that be default, Ipods NEED itunes, and ONLY support their own format, not .mp3 or .wma files...

If you're doing graphics stuff, Macs are great. They're just good for the job. But I still don't like them.
