Let us know if that's what you get, I'll expect a report back in 2 weeks ;) hahaha

Congrats on the new ride as well
Thanks! Yeah...I'll let you know how it does. I got mine used. It's an '05 but it only has 700 miles on it. I bought it from a mortorcycle dealership in my area who has a good reputation. He had gone over it and it's in perfect condition. I saved a BUNCH by buying used.

Insurance was dirt cheap...$60 for a year. As for price, a new one sells for $2,100 plus you have $299 freight and $199 assembly. So an '08 ends up costing $2600 before tax. I paid $1,495 before tax, so I saved $1,105.

Can the Yamaha Zuma do 60mph? I'd need it to do at least 55 mph in order to get to work without getting the middle finger from everyone.

^ not without a 70cc kit / stage 2-3, upgraded pipe, etc. look into a 100-150cc scooter if you need to go that fast. i got my Zuma to 45mph easy on flat roads, although i weigh nothing =p

congrats matt, i got the same but brand new this past saturday. its a blast!

That's awesome. Congrats on yours too! Just last night I saw at least 4 different people around my area on 50cc scooters (one was another Zuma). I rode mine to work again this morning. I totally love it. The speedo only goes to 40 and I had it pegged, so I might have been going faster. And that's with a windshield. I got mine used and it came with a windshield already on it. I debated about taking it off but I kinda like it. I have a feeling it might even go a little faster without it.
I bought a helmet at the cycle shop when I got the scooter. Mine is a basic glossy black (matches the scooter). It looks like this one, only gloss:

tCeeder, have you seen the mod for the Zuma that allows you to run both headlights at the same time? They are both on for low-beam and both on for hi-beam. You don't have to cut or splice any wires, you don't need to add any new switches, and your existing hi-beam switch will work them both. I might do the mod. There are "kits" available for under $20 on ebay to do it and they come with instructions. It's only supposed to take about 10 - 15 minutes. I just want to be sure that it won't be an issue during my PA state inspection next spring.

thats the first thing i noticed on my zuma when i got home is the single bulb thing so i found the harness online and bought it, i'll let you know how it works out it should be here in a couple of days.

Yes, they are. I looked at them. The actual Vespa scooters are NICE. But they go for about $3100 and up. Vespa also has the less expensive Piaggio line, but the 50cc model from them is made in China. If I had wanted to spend more, it would have been a Vespa. In my price range the Yamaha is great.

my second choice for 50cc was the Aprilia SR50 R Factory, but it was a little out of my price range for just a scooter to ride around town doing errands on, although it looks badasss!

i think the Zuma is perfect for starting out, plus you cant beat 120+mpg

man i just got home from a nice looooong relaxing ride around town. these things are a blast! poor tC has been just sitting there in the driveway since i bought the Zuma lol.

its a lot more fun riding a night imho. only problem is i need to find some riding goggles or buy a helmet with a face shield cause twice i got hit by a some huge bugs way too close to my eye. if i dont watch out i'll end up like this and blind:

LMAO

when i'm riding i cant help but remember my favorite scene in dumb and dumber when he trades the dog van for the scooter, hahahah...
