Default US ARMY enlisted.

Hello guys and girls.
Just want to express myself little bit here..

Yestarday at Fort Hamilton , NY i was Enlisted in the US ARMY 4 years contract with decent bonus, i am leaving for BCT on sept 25th 2008 and i will be in Missouri for the next 9 weeks , after that i will be in Florida for how long will be determined there i guess, normal MOS training for my profession is 52 weeks, but i already have the skill so my training will be alot less. My MOS recruitment code is 35W.

I am going in as Specialist ( E-4) and after all of the training considering that i will not do anyting stupid i will be promoted to Seargent ( E-5) ..

The shipping date is ALOT sooner then i expected , now i dont have time to even install and tune all of my parts ( that is Turbo ) so everything pushed back probably at least 3 month, depends if i'll be allowed to have a car in Florida.

Anyway guys and girls heres my rant and wish me luck !

Hey man. Good luck with training. 35W is Electronic Warfare Signal Intelligence right? Sounds like it should be fun. Im a 15J SGT. A few things you might be surprised about though, you said your MOS training is normally 52 weeks but yours wont be as long. You might get some kind of magical exception, but usually the only way you will have shorter training is if you have already been in the military in a similar field. Also you said once you finish your AIT you will be promoted to SGT, again this may be wrong. Unless its somehow in your contract I seriously doubt this, seeing as how you wont meet the minimum time requirements in the army to become e-5. Recruiters lie and say all kinds of things. Just beware. There are exceptions however and you may get all of these magical things they promise. Either way good luck man and go airborne. The Army can ____ you off sometimes but its a good job.

Thanks for the support fellas !

Higgy: Nope my MOS is not 35W , 35W is a recruitment code basically after the training i will be 35P.

The reason why they said my training will be less is because yesterday i also took DLPT and passed it pretty good.

in the span of 52 weeks they teach you language skills and your job skills. I only need job skills , as my prificiency in the language i showed them by passing the test.
so thaqts called ACAS program or something like that, basically civilian aquired skill.

Also in regards of after all training is complete becoming SRGNTm actually i did ask recruiter if he is lying, he said he found it online with all of my requirements and stuff...i guess i'm gonna ask him to show it to me on a paper ( which actually he said he is able to do so ) .

Well guys i'm hoping i didnt get lied to too much.

Higgy, you are thinking of a 33W which is now 35T. That is what I was before I went Warrant. Best of luck with everything RusWolf!

Yeah the language thing. Didn't think about that one. As for the getting promoted to Sgt, you have to be in the service for (i might be alittle off on the times) 18 months and be an e4 for 10 months before you are in secondary zone (which means your point cutoff will be high and you have to be recommended to go before the board). You have to go to a promotion board and pass it to become promotable and then you have to make the cutoff points for your MOS.

Yeah. More $$$ though and a lot less BS I'm sure. Im putting together my packet to go flight. Seeing as how I'm in aviation already my recommendation letters will be too easy to get. So you a WO1 or have you been promoted?

Well the cool thing about being a warrant is that you make W2 automatically after 2 years. Unless you do something stupid.

Thats pretty sweet. There are also no more boards to go to. My E5 board was hell! Ill be going to the 6 board soon. Im hoping to stretch it out until I get to Afghanistan.

As awesome as field boards are, no boards are the best! Just DA select for you. Where are you stationed at?

alright. Ive heard good and bad about Hood. I guess its all personal preference. Im heading down to the border early October and Ill be there for a month. JTF6 border patrol BS. Bragg isn't so bad though. Im from here and don't you know I join the army and get stationed right back here. Have fun at Baghdad. Im sure you have been deployed before so no need in telling you how that is.

Congrats man! USAF here... you guys seem to get promoted so much quicker than we do, its at least 2.5 years before you even get to E4, and thats coming out of basic as an E3, but there are no boards or anything to get to E5, just a test.

what are your guys' requirement to go warrant?

Anyway, good luck, and dont have too much fun in BCT, hehe.

Yea, I have been deployed a couple of times. But I haven't been to Iraq since '03 so I am anxious to see how much it has changed. I am kind of excited but I am sure that will wear off quickly lol.

In order to become a warrant in the USA you have to submit a packet. The packet consists of letters of recommendation, a resume and a whole bunch of other crap. There are also prerequisites that you have to meet in order to have your packet approved. Once your packet is approved it goes to a board and they select however many warrants they need. Once you are selected you have to go to Warrant Officer Candidate school which is kind of like basic training all over again.

Congrats on joining. Military has its fun days!!!

Like will said, it all sounds kinda fishy to for them to make those promises to you, but hopefully it is true!!! USAF its IMPOSSIBLE to make rank that fast, no matter what/who you do!!!

Will, you going to Anaconda?
