If you're going to vegas for your birthday, you shouldn't blow a ton of money on the hotel room. Your hotel room should be there purely for sleep....during the day. Imperial is well-centered on the strip and has reasonable rates.

Are you looking to stay in the New part or Old part? New part I would say check out the excalibur. Sometimes they have some gooood deals depending on when you go. Beginning or end of week.
I like staying in the new part because most of the clubs I like and went to were in MGM and the other hotels in the area.
As for the older part I couldn't tell you.
I honestly never noticed much difference between a friday and a monday. Every night seemed like you could find a hot spot. Tell your friends to bring there cash for drinks though. Especially if you drink girlie drinks. Caaaaching.

Personally, I think a room is a room as long as it is clean.
What you should look for is a good rateand that purerly depends on supply and demand and a central location so you won't be spending allot of money on taxis. Do NOT go there on a long holiday weekend, the masses of people are ridiculous.
Most young people like to hang out at the Hard Rock and the Palms some at Mandalay Bay. They Mandy Bay has the best pool while the Hard Rock the best pool to hang out, be seen. I would stay in one of those places just because of their pool.
As far as clubs there are plenty of new ones.
Pure at Caesars
Jet at Mirage
Tryst at Wynn
Rain at Palms
all those are highly recommended.
Friday and Saturday nights however can be packed with lines up to a couple of hours! Passes for reduced admission can be purchased from most taxi drivers (though they won't get through the line). If you wanna bypass the line, you might be able to if all the girls look nice and talk to the doorman. If that doesn't work he will take a good tip! ($50+) Try a Thursday if you wanna go to a club.
Have a good time!

Here's my guide--
I lived in Vegas all my life until last year, and wouldn't stay in many of the places mentioned so far.
The sooner you book it, the better, and be sure to check out travel websites like Vegas.com, Expedia, etc. too.
The only places I'd be caught dead at are:
Mandalay Bay/THE hotel, Luxor, Excalibur (old, but not too bad), MGM, New York/New York, Monte Carlo (casino floor stinks 'cause they shampoo it with pina colada scents, but otherwise ok), Aladdin, Paris, Bellagio, Ballys (old, but kept up well and great location), Flamingo, Caesar's Palace, Mirage, TI, Venetian, Wynn.
Off The Strip:
Orleans, Palms, Hard Rock, LV Hilton, Green Vally Ranch, Sunset Station,
The pool is gonna be sweet at most places I mentioned, but Mandalay Bay has a "realistic" beach. Honestly, you can easily go to any hotel's pool you want. The Excalibur is the only place I remember having security to get in = )
Since you're a girl, also check out shopping at The Venetian, Bellagio(if you win BIG), Caesar's Palace Forum Shoppes, & Aladdin mall. Also plan on going up the Stratoshere Tower at sunset($15), the dolphin habitat/zoo at The Mirage($16), the white tiger exhibit at The Mirage, the lion exhibit at the MGM, the botanical garden/lobby at Bellagio, and watch a couple of water fountain shows in front of Bellagio after 6pm.
The Stratosphere Tower, Sahara, CircusCircus, & NY, NY all have roller-coasters too.
Just wear comfortable shoes!

i havent found deals all that great. Im booking my flight and hotel seperate cuz it only seems to be a 200 dollar difference. Im paying for my friend and i to fly down there and then were splitting hotel. So im buying flights this weekend then were going to book the hotel when she decides where she will stay! im a bit bummed cuz im up for spending 200 a night on my part (for a total of 400 dollar a night room) She on the other hand doesnt think that we should spend that much. She also thinks 10 dollars to go to a club up here is expensive and im like UHH JUST WAIT TILL WERE DOWN IN VEGAS. Ive heard clubs costing 50 bucks to get in. Which i dont mind! whatever its my birthday and im spoiling myself!

I always was able to find coupons to get into clubs free or atleast very cheaply. I think I paid $10 tops to get into the Ghost Bar at the Palms.
If she thinks $10 is expensive I either hope you don't drink alot or you bring some alcohol with you because beers were averaging $6. Thats for you cheap ___ ole millar light bottle. Girlie drinks were obviously more and shots I don't even wanna discuss. lol
