Default What's the Worst Thing that You've ran Over?

And what was the damage?

Yesterday, I was driving home late night, and right at the moment when I started changing lanes, there was a nice big chunk of broken tire laying in between the lanes, right on the line. Again being late at night (2am-ish) and me cruising at a nice ~85mph, I wasn't able to avoid the damn thing, so I ran over it. Heard a nasty "clunk-clunk" on the left side of the car. I immediately watch to see if my TPMS light comes on, but luckily it doesnt, and I'm able to drive home, no problem.

Once I got home, doing some inspection in the dark (because I couldnt find my flashlight), I notice that the piece of plastic that sits in front of the my rear driver-side wheel (its like a mudguard, but its *in front* of the wheel) is hanging at a weird angle. I readjust it back to normal, but its way loose and kinda wobbly. I guess part of the part where the screw holds it in is broken.

Sigh. It just sucks that you try to keep your car in pristine condition, but inevitably, the battle scars keep comin'. :/

So anyone else ever run over something .... "interesting" ?

well i decided it was a good idea to see if i could beat the street light, at night goin about 60. i downshifted into 3rd and punched it, ended up running the red, and hit a nice big dip that failed to see before. i got some air, the front end smacked the ground and smashed the little hooks under the car. my trd exhaust got flattened at one of the bends from hitting the ground. also, my front bumper has some major scraping on the bottom now.

the car hit the ground so hard, my roommate tells me my ipod skipped... i dont remember, i was pretty scared right after. i remember looking at the rearview to see if any cops were there, and i saw a bunch of orange sparks from the impact on the ground.

im just glad i didnt hit another car.

I hit a dog once. Back roads in Greece on my way back to the hotel from the Air Force base. There was pretty much 0 road lighting and the roads in Greece are narrow as hell, I rounded a corner and the dog was standing in the middle of the street.
I slammed on my brakes but since the car i was driving was a ____ty euro rental i didn't make it. Clipped it, heard it yelp and run off. No damage to the car but I felt pretty bad about it. I doubt it was someones dog as there were a ton of strays roaming the area.

I hit a possum on a twisty canyon road at night recently. No damage to the tC.

I also hit a random piece of metal on the freeway while doing 80mph, also at night. The result was a dent in that metal hook thing which hangs down somewhere below the radiator.

I hit a raccoon at 60mph right in the head. It cracked my lower left bumper in the air vent and popped out the little grille. The next day I went and found the grille piece and the dead raccoon, it was HUGE! But just a reason to get a lip kit

I also ran over a plastic milk bottle at about 70mph and it dragged for about 300 feet under the car. I pulled over and my friend had to "fish" it out with his fishing pole, it was melted and my car smelled like burning plastic for weeks.

There's a nice bump in Sequim and I hit that thing at 40mph and got some air, but that was before I was lowered. No damage, just chuckles

I hit a raccoon at 60 MPH on HWY 49 in between Andersonville, GA and Montezuma, GA. It was huge also. Tore the front lower valence off the driver's side, cracked the bumper, and tore the wheel well plastic thingy. About $1000 in damages, two weeks in the shop, and a rental car.
The insurance adjuster loved the fact that I left the fur on the bumper for him.

I ran over a freshly-killed deer carcass one night while driving home from work. A large pickup in front of me smacked it as well, and if I had swerved to avoid it, I probably would have lost control (it was an icy night). I rolled over it fairly hard, and kept on going. When I got home, I checked the undercarriage with a flashlight, and there was blood from the front bumper all the way to the rear. The smell was horrific as well. I took it in to have an oil change the next morning, and the blood was everywhere underneath, and the exhaust had cinged fur on it. There's still fur underneath it to this day. Luckily it wasn't a buck with a rack on it, otherwise it would have punched a hole in something under there.

It wasn't in my tC...but in my A4 that I had before this. I hit a big raccoon and completely broke the plastic guard underneath the engine.

Those ****'s are hard man...felt like I hit a good size rock.
