I go to FAO every time I'm in NYC, and I have to say, those things are built very well. The hummer, if I recall, gets up to 35-40mph.
They are huge. Almost the size of regular go carts.
But, the point of the store is to cater to rich people and their kids. That's how they justify the 16,000$ life sized giraffe.
And keep in mind, they wouldn't stock it if there wasn't a demand for it. FAO was bankrupt once and reopened under new management to sell these items.[/i]

look, i'm a pro-kart racer. i have a enduro kart. its the long 1 u lay down in. depending on what class i race, it goes from 87-115 mph. at the most a regular new 1 is 3-4gees. a super kart that u shift on the wheel like f1 style that goes 120-140mph cost 6-12gees jr classes start with racers that r 12-17 years old. all other classes r 18-up. sprint classes start younger than that. so when i have kids, i'm goin to have them hangin with the big dogs. not these slow neiborhood rinkydink joints yal talkin bout.

They used to offer a Testarossa Ferrari too...$50,000, but it was leather trimmed with alpine deck...LOL...too much money though...Don't forget about the Monopoly game that uses REAL money!
I, too, go there every time we are in NY!

The monopoly game is $100,00.00. It comes with real money, 18K plated houses and game pieces, rhinestones and other crap that is useless...LOL...other than saying"I'm so rich, I'm stupid!". I guess if you are that rich and buy these 'toys', you won't be rich for long!

or do you play for keeps

I don't know...you make a good point. If you can afford to buy that to play, you probably buy and sell REAL property while playing with all your other rich hoytie buddies while smoking cuban cigars...Who knows...These are too many problems in this world to even THINK of buying that game...or a 'toy' H2, a $15.000 stuffed giraffe, or $25,000 elephant for your spoiled brat kids.
The store is VERY nice though. They have segways and Vespa scooters in there too.

i had a "mini bike", a tecumseh 3 horse powered black one....by far my favorite thing when i was a 9 year old. i also had 2 neighbors who had "go carts" (old school). one had a 3 horse motor and was just a welded up version...but another friend had one with a removeable blue corvette/corvair type body. i was so enamored of that go cart that i remember it as if it was yesterday. if i had a kid and could buy that car for a few grand, i'd do it because of my memory of that one.
we would all spend our money on different things and sometimes cannot understand why others spend it the way they do.
