Wisdom Teeth
Who still has them and who doesn't have them?
What are the pros and cons of keeping them or removing them?
The reason I ask is cause mine are still in and are growing out and I'm getting different stories about why I should completely remove them. Is it bad to remove them?
I'm confused...help!!!...
Any dentists or dental assistants on here?

had mine taken out a few years ago after they were bugging me while they were growing in. got some good drugs, and once i was all healed up, my mouth felt sooo much better. i dont really know of any 'cons' to not having them. mine were taken out before they came in fully, so i never used them anyway.

If you leave them in you will have to deal with a lot of pain as well as your teeth may start shifting.
had mine taken out about 4 years ago..mine were surgically removed so i was asleep the whole time but man those next few days sucked..lol but you'll be glad you did it once its over!

its Valium.
i still have mine, lately its been bugging me though. i will have to make an appointment to have mine taken out. they dont have any other purpose really. oh and it depends on the way your teeth are, what i mean is, if your tooth is laying down as suppose to the normal tooth is suppose to be, then that wisdom tooth thats laying down will have a tendency to press on other teeth and it will hurt like hell. and those kinds of tooth that lays down are hard to take out.

I had mine taken out and they put me under to do it. It was the most awesome thing ever. They gave me percocets but I only took one and that was on the way home, right after the surgery. My dad was driving and was like "take this" and i was still out of it from being put under. I never felt any pain at all. Then i had a full bottle of percs!

I'm a dentist. here goes...ill try to explain in regular terms....
No pros in keeping them at all. Wisdom teeth are the unwanted children of our mouth. They are too far back to clean properly, and the "gum pockets" behind them are generally deeper than the usual pockets, which means stuff gets stuck. When stuff gets stuck you get cavities. and if you get cavities, forget about it, i aint gonna fill em cause its a _____ to get back there.
Same goes with horizontally impacted wisdom teeth (growing sideways under the gums/bone), high risk of getting cavities due to deeper pocket and the growing wisdom tooth presses against the tooth in front (2nd molar) of it and the tooth root starts to resorb away...and when it resorbs to the root canal and exposes the nerve.........crazy pain. SO best to get em out
my recommendation is to take 600mg of advil before getting them taken out (3 pills of 200mg advil),unless you have a bleeding/clotting problem..... BUT BEST TO ASK YOU DENTIST WHAT TO DO BEFORE HAND. be clear in your medical history, so that no problems will "pop" up because you forgot to tell your dentist about some weird disease you have....
yes i am a dentist rollin in a scion tC -Howiedds

anyway, just get it done you sissy. you don't need your wisdom teeth, you just go in to a dental surgeon, get put under, wake up, have somebody assist you out of the building and drive you home, then eat ice cream (with out anything solid in it) and jello and pudding and slurpees until your mouth closes up.
oh and you gotta keep changing gauze in the back of your mouth that soaks up blood as your gums heal. not a big deal dude, come on, no fear!
