Man... ^^^ that's the stuff right there! lol... I'd love to get my hands on a set of those for my ride. And at 14 lbs. w/ the rail... that sucker weighs almost nothing at all. lol

then car is off to Vinny at Destruction Warehouse to get a custom core support, tubs, stitch welded bay, frame rail repair, antenna removal, rear side marker removal, and other small hole patching.

bought this SR20DET last week and was super stoked.
got it for super cheap and already had a bunch of stuff done.

Garrett GT2871 Turbo
Megan Tubular Manifold
Isis Screamer Pipe
Tomei Stage 1 Cams

so it sat in the garage for a couple days and i decided i was gonna check it out, pulled the VC off and found this.

looks like its got a blown headgasket and the camshaft lobes are all rusty, ummm....

the guy i got it from said he got it from someone else and never used it so he was just as surprised as i am.

Thankfully hes being a super cool dude and giving me the SR20 out of his car, so im goin back up to Indy Sunday to swap the motors.

Pretty much the only update ive got, saving up to get the front end done now, once thats done the real fun begins.

yea, doubt hell let me keep the "upgrades" but seeing as the cams are trashed anyways, and isis and megan products arent that great, the only thing really worth taking is the turbo. And i havent asked him how many miles his motor has on it, but for the price i paid either way im sure ill be getting a good deal.

picked up another motor, all stock this time. about 40K miles. compressions good and everything looks pretty clean.

when we switched motors we swapped oil pans because one was dented, never seen anything like what i saw when we took the pan off the popped motor. Ive seen stuff from blown headgaskets before but never like that.

no updates for now really, taking the car to get the front end finished in about 2 weeks hopefully. Then starting the long and horrible process of taking everything off from underneath the car, sanding it all down and covering the whole underbody in POR-15.

while im doing that ill be buying small things for the motor, as well as gauges, and a couple other expensive little pieces.

Are you still keeping the KA and going to plan on doing the turbo on that while running the SR20?

Man, I have read through the whole thread. You have done well in taking your time. I just don't think I have the patients for that sort of project!

Hope you keep posting updates here after you dump your TC (if that is still in the process).
