Defensive Driving School
that's right folks, I ended my 20 year ticketless streak in Yuma a couple weeks ago, now I need to learn how to drive.
Has anyone taken the on-line class? I was reading about it and I see a couple drawbacks.
First, the class is time-controlled so it takes at least 4 hours to complete. They say it can take up to 7 hours. The live class is 4.5 hours.
Second, the whole test-taking part seems to be a big PITA. You have to go to a Notary, etc.
Third, there are questions on the test not related to driving. I shouldn't have any problem with that, but if I go brain-dead for a minute I may be screwed.
Seems to me like it may just be easier and even save some time if I go to the live class.
What do you think and what have you done?

Go to the live class
Nothing like going to class and running into a good friend that you know. That happened to me once when I went to Traffice school. Had no idea he was going to be there...lol

I can say that it isn't that bad going to the live class. It is over before you know it and usually the teachers are pretty cool. I have been to Defensive twice and Traffic Survival once, but I have learned my lesson.
I watch for cops much better now.

Go to the actual class. You can zone off and what have you and it is over before you know it.
With the online class you pretty much have to pay attention the whole time since there are little pop ups that randomly come up and quizzes that you have to take. I don't think all online classes require going to a notary though. I don't know. I gave up on the online class idea when I realized I would have to actually pay attention. And what if my internet connection went out. Would I have to do it all over? Pay again? Who knows. I'd rather settle in for a few hours in a classroom. The teachers can be fun depending on who you get.

i say go to the live class. i took an online class in florida. major pita!
the questions that aren't related to driving are called "validation questions" on mine there were 20 of them. they are literally just random blanks that you have to put in an a,b,c or d. they just randomely pop up in the videos. either the teacher says "the answer to validation question number 12 is c" or they are inserted by voice only, OR they just show up at the bottem of the screen randomely like a subtitle. major pain. they are there to make sure you watch and pay attention and you have to get ALL of them right, so if you miss one, you have to go back and find it.
try and find one of those comedy ones, they are kinda amusing. more energy than regular classes.

I'm not in your area, but throughout the course of my driving career (all 3 years of it) I have taken both the online and the live versions of the course and I prefer the online. Judge said I had to do it in person the 2nd time around
When I did it live there was an instructor that could give a **** less about what he was doing and all we did was sit around, eat cookies and BS for 8 hours. The online class makes you stay on each page of reading material for a set amount of time which adds up to 8 hours but you can do it whenever you feel like and have like a week or so to complete it. The only thing that sucked was not being able to take the exam at my home (I had to hit up the library)
