USACI SPL competition event *CANCELLED*
June 9th in phoenix at "FUEL" USACI is going to be having an audio event for both SPL and Street Beat audio competition. For anyone needing to see the rules you can go to http://www.soundoff.org/ which has the rules for all classes. Mike Jaffe who runs this event is an awesome guy and all of his events end up being a blast.
Can we please get this up on Scionetics for events?
Here is the link to the calendar for all upcoming USACI events:

From what I understand its a competion of stereos measured by your db reading. Differnt set ups will be in differnt groups. Scott would be able to explain it alot better. but there are trophies. lol! I just want to see what I am hitting. and for $40 and 2 readings. thats worth it to me.

There are two different types of competing at this event, one is SPL and the other is Street Beat. In SPL you just "burp" your system system at different frequencies and try to hit the highest decible you can on the meter. The mic always goes in the footwell in the corner on the front passenger because that is the best location. With your entry fee you get two runs which the first one normally is your sine sweep so you can find out which frequency is going to be best to run at, your next run is going to be that frequency.
The other way to compete is in Street Beat which in my opinion is a lot tougher. In this competition you have to play a musical track (the judge considers basically anything with more than one note music) for 30 seconds and your score ends up being the average decibel reading throughout that 30 seconds. So the trick for this competition is finding the song that works best in your system BUT has a good bass note that is solid for 30 seconds or more because any time in the song that hte bass goes away you're ruining your average score. I still have yet to find a song that works best for this competition in my vehicle, and keep in mind its different for every vehicle because of resonant frequencies of the vehicle, the enclosure for the subs, the subs themself, etc..........
During the competition you normally get two runs for $40-45 in which you can make any changes you want in between the runs. After the two runs you can do a re-run for $10 a piece and keep competing until you're happy with your score or broke.
