well, the 'hip' place now where all the poseur people go is Entourage
over-priced steaks and just average bread/circuses
skip that place or Ted's that just opened up -- stick to the consistent quality of Mortons
but yeah, RAM is a good alternative -- though Champps has better food
and that concludes today's restaurant review...

Sounds like you're driving over night.
If you haven't left yet I would suggest nailing it the whole way. If you leave by 8 you'll get to Schaumburg by 8 in the morning. Not very good timing, your 860 miles it appears to be will be rough if you don't get beyond the city limits by 7. If you can handle doing 80 the whole way you'll arrive in Schaumburg by 7 maybe 6.
Just depends on when you are leaving and so forth... Trust me I have made the venture from the southeast to Chicago 3-4 times. IT'S HELL when you're southeast of the city trying to get the west side or northwest.
Wow, I am curious how you are going to drive this though, google gives you a HORRID direction, driving 57 all the way through Illinois. Might be a route to avoid, no turns, nothing but empty cornfields that way. That's like 300 some miles of Illinois with nothing to keep you awake!

For a While I thought they were not going to stop it was like one after another up there.. hehe..
But I loved it though. Very nice area up there traffic wasnt to bad at the times I was driving but the roads could be a little confusing at times but the tC handled its own up there and did great! :D
