I wanna tint the upper portion of my windshield, maybe 6-8 inches or so and I was wondering. My I-Pass sits inside that 6-8 inch area I wanna tint.
How low can I go down, with the I-Pass, on the windshield, so that the I-Pass lanes can still read my I-Pass without any problems?
Can I possibly lay it on the dashboard and it still be read?

on top of the speedo is the only place my I-pass worked. I tried up high on the window and it wouldn't pick up.

It shouldn't matter. The ipass broadcasts a signal both as you are nearing the toll and going through it. Tint shouldn't stop it. It's the metal and chassis of the car that muffles the signal. You could probably mount it on the sunroof and it'd still send the signal.

Why don't you just have it in your glovebox or center console and pull it out and hold it up as you go through?

That's what my family does when they head to Chicago. Instead of having it stickied and looking bad.

Can't do that cause 2 weeks ago I was at the Continental Scion Show and I took it off the windshield. When the show was over, I forgot to put it back on the window, so when I tried going thru the I-Pass lane, on I-294, it wouldn't let me thru. It was the I-Pass lane with the lowering arm at the booth. I had left it in the glove box! I reversed the car a bit, while waving the I-Pass but NOPE! I had to pay $0.35 to go thru...

I have mine on the little black circles, which i dont even know what the hell they do. Its the little black circles that are behind the rear view mirror. So its kinda hidden inside, and you cant see it outside. I had no problems placing it there.

Yep... did you know that an average of 30,000 people pass through the open tollways without paying?

the little black dots are a sunshade of sorts. put your sunvisors down and you'll notice that is the only area not covered by them.
Even I get the no workie thing from time to time. I-pass was in the windshield on top of the speedo and the reader didn't register at the Cermak plaza on our way to Scion Slam. What can you do? 4 or 5 violations and it's off to court for all of us. Wife said people have been docked 5 grand for consistently not showing up for court and they are regular violators. Sorry to say it, but they are losers.

i got the license plate ipass and zip tied it to it indie of my lower grill. works great and you cant see it.

Also, as long as you have an ipass acct and your car registered with your plate #, you cn go through and they will still deduct it from your acct. It will come through as "vtoll" on your bill
