Is there a tuner shop in the southeast Michigan area that could help me with the handling/suspension of my '05 Xa?

I went to art school and know precious little about fixing up my car - which I love. I have 215/17 Toyos, ingen upper-strut tieidown bar, progressive rear sway bar, hotchkiss 2" lowering springs, stock shocks (haven't decided that either).

If I had wheel spacers put on would the handling be flatter around corners? Would I really notice?

I have to do this car piecemeal, largely without my wife knowing what I'm up to, and if the wheel spacers (brand?) aren't that much of an improvement I'll go the other way with a header and new exhaust. Any input about the spacers and/or a shop in the area would be much appreciated!
