What's goin on with the Chicagoland dealers and their shows?
Just out of curiosity.. what the h*ll is going on?! This saturday alone there's FIVE events goin on.. starting at 6pm, 6:30pm, 7pm and 8pm! I mean wouldn't it be best to all have separate dates to get the best possible turnouts?
i dunno.. just throwing it out there...

i understand the want/need to get people to their dealer, but why all at the same exact time? i highly doubt corp told them "hey, have a show saturday night or else!" like schaumburg did with rescheduling their show, could they not have at least spread it out throughout the weekend? it all just seems like a lack of communication (if any) or lack of research to see who's doing what when...

my $.02....
Maybe its because of that Scion/Toyota Round Table disscussion corp. had with a few Scion owners...asking how to make the Scion name more marketable...
A trend on these shows coming up this weekend...its "Get ur prize INSTALLED on the SPOT."
something that did come up at the roundtable/questionaire....

i applaud the corp/region thinking and the dealers for having their shows on the same day
lets face it -- i'm sure the dealers are getting tired of seeing the same cars and the same clubs at their events...
having a choice of shows enables them to reach out and try to attract different current owners and prospective buyers
in this economic climate, dealers need to do everything they can to entice their market

Would you guys want a show around July or August??
I do have some connections at a certain Wisconsin dealer (near the state lines) who hasn't done a show?
Hell, another dealer that's in my town. They LOVE Scions. So much, they did artistic contest with HS students. They gave these students xBs & xAs' wheel covers to paint any type of picture on it. Then they hang them up in the dealer showroom's windows. Let people off the streets vote for the best one. Also, they have customized models with amazing paint jobs. The tC has cool blue and white theme with yellow lightning bolts. I probably could try ask them too?
If so, I'll see what I can do. :D

also i always thought that bigger shows were better for prospective customers. not only can you check out the car first hand, but you have ideas as what is possible to your car. because at these shows we get everything from just rolled off the showroom floor to years of work and major customization. so it can attract those that want a reliable car with great milage that to those that really want to make a personal statement through their car.
i understand that the current status of the economy forces people/businesses to try out certain strategies that they may have not even considered before, but i don't think diluting the crowd like this would benefit them as much as having a much larger show that would spark more interest in prospective buyers.

I agree it is a bit odd that so many are on one day. You post on here secure a date then when the next dealer posts they pick a different date. Sounds simple enough but just like how the clubs compete for trophies maybe the dealers are competing for your attendence. Look at it this way at least you have a better chance at getting a trophy. It gets old competing against the same people all the time. If your really a baller go to as many as possible. We all know the drive is more fun than the show after a few hours anyways.

my remark was not an attack at the efforts of the various clubs and their members, but rather an affirmation that dealers need to do more besides throwing a simple show with trophies
unfortunately, such creative ideas also involve a bit of event planning and promotion. gone are the days where a dealer could post up here about a show with short notification, and still count on a good turn out
the enthusiasm for the brand is markedly different now than years past. dealers and their scion champions need to invest more time to adequately plan and promote their unique events - if their sales and the brand image are to survive these times

oh no, didn't think your response was an attack, raul. sorry if it came off like that. i guess as the year rolls through we'll get an idea as to what direction the dealers will be taking as far as marketing the brand. so far i've only seen one dealer step out of the norm in hopes to attract customers. they also seem to be very focused on bigger and better things also. just don't want a dealer feeling as if their show is a bust due to multiple shows happening on the same date.
