I recently got a 2011 Scion Xb. I had 35% tint put over the back 3 windows and the net is 12%. I know its legal to tint the front windows in Illinois and not Chicago. But what have people done and have you been bothered in Chicago or out? I am most likely only going to get 50% on the fronts (think thats the only legal combo) but was curious what others experience has been.

 

I did 35% all around on my 2011 tC and i live in Chicago. Haven't been bothered at all with that setup.

 

My tints were 35% front and 15% the back. Never got pulled over. My friend got a couple of tickets for his car, but he had "mirror-like" tints all around, and you really couldn't see the inside of the car. When that happened he send a letter with explaining that city law cant overrule the state law. He also included a copy of the law itself. He got away with it 2 times.

 

this is the one reason i'm glad i dont live in or near chicago because no matter what a state law is or isnt, they have to have their own that contradicts stuff. majority of the time they wont mess with you for it unless they're looking for a reason to pull you over
