Default xB autocrosser video from Maui.

I took "Toasty" out to the track Sunday to run through some cones in SCCA Solo II.
F U N!! Many were sceptical, many were surprised including myself!

The only thing I've done to the car is put 15" wheels/tires on it. I'm running Kuhmo ECSTA and they really make it stick. Had about 28 psi in the fronts and about 32 in the rear.

The average time for the morning heat was about 55 seconds. My first run in the afternoon heat was 65.5. I shaved a second off each run and on the 4th I ran 51.2!! That was 10 seconds slower than the best time of day laid down by a Porsche 928 with a V-8! I could have gotten it down to 50 seconds I think.

The toaster is a pretty good handler. Neautral handling. It won't push in a turn uless you really crank it hard and let off throttle. It just turns in and follows a line. I never once spun out and I only felt the ___-end twitch one time.

Here's a link to a video shot from the backseat.

There's a bit of a lag at the beginning while I wait for the course to clear.

I mounted up a tripod in there yesterday and got some good vids. On the first big sweeper, I was going about 50+ mph. The car just rolls a bit then tracks right on through the corner.

LOTS OF FUN !!

Maui SCCA runs an event each month. Anyone can come out, member or not. Here's a link to the site:
http://www.mauiscca.org

For $35 (non-member) you get four runs through the course, and then the afternoon is for fun runs!!

Well it's that time again... time to zip through the cones in the Toaster!
This Sunday I'll be taking my xB out autocrossing again only this time I'll be running in Street Touring class as sanctioned by SCCA. FINALLY! It's now official that the xB runs in ST class not H. Check this months SCCA mag Fast Track for more info.

Maui Scion is sponsoring me now and today I received a FREE TRD strut brace from them! COOL! Thanks guys! It'll be interesting to see how much of a difference it makes in the handling. Stay tuned to this thread for more video and results!

The box did OK today! I ran a half a second faster in STS than our club president's Maxda Miata did in STS2!

I got "Driver Of The Month" award for last month's performance too! I think I took first in my class today as well. Not bad for a box eh?
...and it didn't even roll over! lol

The strut bar made only a tiny difference which is testament to how already stiff the strut towers are on a stock xB.

Here's a link to the video of today's best run posted on YouTube:

Is it just me or is that track really bumpy. Good driving. I also AutoX my box. It is a lot of fun when people look and laugh at us only to be shocked that we can handle just as good as they do.

It's bumpy! The course is set up on part of an old airstrip from WW II. Real big chunks of blue lava rock mixed with tar. It eats tires like a cheese grater but it's what we call home. lol It's all we get here... couldn't get appproval on any parking lots. We make due with what we have and have fun!

Here's some pics from this weekend...

I love this one...

I took a first place in my class because I was the only one running in STS!

I ran half a sec faster than a Miata in STS2 class... which wins me some braggin rights... lol.

Lots of fun.

Next month I'll probably race my 90 Miata again for the first time in over a year.
