I'm still in too. You know me, if it's for a good cause then I'm there.

OK - Count me in, too. I need to see how fast my Green Machine can really go!

It would be nice to have the schedule for the event: we all know it's going to be Saturday, May 13 (right?). It looked like we were originally going to meet at Red Robin in Grapevine, do lunch, then head out to the track (TMS) from there, even though no times were posted.

Would you have more information or is it too soon?

Yeah... uh not trying to pick at scabs here, but this charity thing was never mentioned origionally, is this new since the origional dinner and a track night thing?

Either way, i'll put down for Wendy and I so thats one car. (hers)
Glad this is still going on. Too bad it got effed up on the orgional one and I really don't understand why.... But either way.

Thanks for the effort TW for putting this together.

If anybody wants some food we can BBQ some twinkies in the Blue level parking..

To anyone that has never done this before it is a cheap 25 buck thrill and never more than the first time you do it. I will put up my money, this will be my fourth time. Everytime Texas Motor Speedway allows this it is for the Children's charity. I think David didn't mention the charity thing becasue he knew the money was going for charity but wanted us to enjoy the event and not self promote that the dealership was giving money to a charity. The DFW community has worked together on other charities together and I think sharing that responsibility is a better approach to do the most good. Good idea David!

Bret you can send your free mod donation to me, but it can't be chrome magnetic flames from Walmart because I already have those.

David, I wasn't able to support you at April Fuel, but I'll still be there as posted. Don't know you too well, but now, I don't need to know you cause I see you are the man.

Just to let everyone know what the event really is.

It is called "Laps for Charity" and the money has always gone to Speedway Children's Charities. The event is held twice a year and is open to the public. The event is from 5pm to 10pm and the best time in my opinion is when the lights come on. WOW!!

I have been the last 4 years and I have taken my car club the last 2. Now I know you guys got to go around the track at Scion Exposed but nothing compares to going around at speeds of 90-100mph and getting pushed into your seat down low on the inside lane. I can only imagine what it's like in a stock car.

So please, everyone come out to the event and have the time of your life. It's an absolute blast, it's for a great cause and you will not experience anything like it again for the same "price".

I dont own a Scion but I'm so happy that S.O.D. is still being a part of the event. If you fall short of your 50 cars, I'll be bringing at least 5 cars from my club that you can count if you'd like.

No problem Robin. Just wanted to let everyone know exactly what the event is. I hope everyone who was initially interested when the event was free is STILL interested now that it's not.

Some people will be in mini vans and pickups, like I have said before we go fast but they do not turn us loose, we all go as fast as the slowest car. Last time I had my xB full of women and a lady a few cars up in a SUV paniced at the first banked turn and slamed the brakes, we were not allowed to pass her and every lady in my car gave out a ear splitting scream as we pounded the brakes from 70 to 30, not expecting anyone to use brakes. I don't think any of us will panic but sometimes other cars are with out group, but I hope we can arrange it different this time and the fewer cars at a time the better it is but they have to run as many as they can so the line keeps moving. It is still a lot of fun and not to be missed.

here's the thing about speed and passing. if you get in with a good group of cars that are pretty quick, they will go faster. if the frontrunners are on the pacecars butt, they will go faster. there are 3 safety trucks which monitors traffic. i have passed them and passed other cars and they dont seem to mind. not everyone wants to go ***** out. thats fine. just dont get your car full of your family and get right in the mix of some fast cars. the stragglers usually fall to the back and run about half a lap behind the other cars. they take the viper club up to 150-160 and you can really tell that they are moving. so what im saying is when we get there, i'll hang around all my scion friends but when we get on the track, you better not be in my group. ;)

A guy in a Firebird came up beside me and his passenger was filming me and he slowly passed me. A Speedway pickup hit the track and ran the Firebird to the apron and ended his laps immeidiately.

interesting...im always passing people and i've never had a problem.

trevor, sometimes i dont even consider tc's scions since they are the red headed stepchild of the bunch. you know, being able to get out of it's own way and all. ;)
