Default any cheaper viper 5901 then this?

I am thinking of installing this viper alarm on my 07 scion tc at a local audio store. I have bought a d3 from them before and been shown where they do their install in the back. The cost of the alarm and install is about $485 after tax and everything. Anyone know a place that can do it for less?

thats actually a really good price i think, the alarm alone if you were to buy it online is like 300+ not including install and install at my shop is like 250. its an awesome alarm though, i put one in a 09 tacoma

i just talked to a guy today and he told me that he would put it on my 09 xb for $499 out the door and they would throw in the ignition module. Does this sound good or should i still look around. I did find the alarm on ebay for 250 but then he wants 250 for install so that would even out.

When you purchase Directed Electronics (Viper, Python, etc.) brands from certified sellers/installers (ex. BestBuy) you have a lifetime guarantee on the product and a 1yr on the remotes(IIRC). Not to mention the install guarantee from the certified sellers/installers, I know BBY will look at it for as long as you own the car, and have the paper work proving that it was installed at one of their locations. And since they are a nation wide brand they honor that warranty at all their locations in this country. (nice if you are on a road trip and something happens, not that it should though).

However, when you purchase said alarm from ebay or someother not reputable(DEI approved source) odds are you are getting a B stock or refurbished unit that won't have any warranty on it besides what the ebay seller might offer. Usually 30days which isn't enough time to really detect a defective product.

Alarm installs are something you want done right the first time. A poorly installed alarm won't perform the way it needs to when it is triggered. Also you as a consumer have to understand what the alarm is going to do for you in order to make sure you are getting what you want out of it. Basic systems will lock and unlock doors, have a siren and a shock sensor, also door triggers, most also include some sort of hood switch.

$500 sounds like a good price if it include product and install. Again an alarm is not something where you want to cheap out on because it will let you down in the event something happens. What kind of installation guarantee do they offer on their work? Good luck and enjoy the alarm

I just talked to best buy today the guy told me that the 5901 was last years model and the new one is the 5701 anyone know about this? it doesn't make any sense to me being that the viper site clearly shows the 5901 as the big dog.
