Last time I lived in Texas, the plates were VERY plain - and cost $13/year...

the new plates have a embedded symbol like the new 20s have the presidents head if you look at it at an angle

The only thing that's a plus is going 7 digits on the plate, more ideas when going for a personalized plate. Other than that I like the previous design, which is what is on my car now.
