Dang a lady just got hit in Houston when a chic jumped the curb while racing. WTF is going on. When will people learn not to race. Sad he had to die but at least a bystander wasn't injured or killed this time.

I'm losing my stomach for the whole tuning/performance thing, and this kinda stuff is why. I used to go to general car meets but people being stupid ruined it. I can't drive my tC around with out some idiot burning out at a light because he thinks I'll race him. It's to the point that I don't even like telling people that I have a car that's souped up, because of the street racer stigma that goes with it. I really hate to put it like that, but it's how I feel.

There's something that needs to be done about street/highway racing. In CA, every Friday Nights, Irwindale PD opens up Irwindale Speedway to the public for drag racing, drive around the track. This has been effective in reducing street racing accidents/deaths since. Someone has to open up TMS for something like this. We don't need any more fatalities!!!

Agreed. Though there are alternatives available. There's a 1/4 strip in Denton that has open track nights (though I don' t know how often per month). Kennedale's 1/8th mile strip is open twice a week to anyone and the 1/4 mile track at Texas Motorplex in Ennis has open track nights typically twice a month on Friday nights. It's not like there's a shortage of options. If one wanted to, you could race 3-5 times a week on a track, between those 4 locations, depending on availability. And it's not expensive. Texas Motorplex is $15 for all night, and that's a professional grade facility, where NHRA finals are held. I place the blame squarely on irresponsibility. There's simply no excuse with the options that are available in the area.

And now you know why I traded my tC for an xA I got tired of every import trying to race me.
With my egg no worries at all.
And I agree TMS or drag strips should be open.....they race on my street all the time not surprised why I heard the ambulances and fire truck in the morning and I thought it was because of a fire.

My prayers go out to the Scion community. This is a tragic loss. I recently had an accident with a random ice patch at 80 mph. Same scenario except I didn't flip. 8k in damages to the Vette. I thank God I'm still alive.
Moment of silence................Amen.

Even with a track it would still happen. Then there are those places that done have a track close by, The whole "no track" excuse is played, it is all on irresponsibility and pure stupidness. And I be daggoned if I trade my tC, all the money I've put in to my sweetie, plus I love this car. People need to just stop being dumb.

Yeah you can still die just as easily on a track, but its a more controlled environment. Either way its a risk. One's a controlled risk though.

2. If it does the proper personnel are there incase of a mishap (i.e. pilice, EMTs, fire fighters)
3. Bystanders won't/shouldn't be able to travel into the danger.
Which means controlled.
And when I said "witha track it would still happen." I meant these people would still be street racing. They're not going to be like let's go to the track. They're looking for that rush at that point.
