Statewide speed cameras voted down in MD Senate

I'm happy the Maryland Senate still has some sense. Probably had do do with the fact that one of the senators was falsely ticketed.
Sorry MoCo, but you'll still have them.

Sen. George W. Della Jr. (D-Baltimore) told fellow senators that he was recently ticketed by a camera in the District, where the devices are allowed. When he examined the citation, he realized that the license plate pictured in the photo belonged to a car he owned years ago.
"It was a blatant error," he said.
But Della said that when he called to complain, he was told that the only way to avoid paying the ticket would be to explain the problem at a court hearing.

finally some sense...i was listening to ed norris in the morning and he was saying how this was totally unnecessary and that if the state really wanted to crack down on speeding, they would have more popos patrolling the highways and not using these gimmicky cameras to catch ppl. it's all used for money anyways...esp with the new laws in dc and street sweepers being able to ticket ppl...the government is just trying to find any way to ****** some loose change as frequently as possible...
