Tint removal, sweet!

Tint removal, sweet!
OK so Mr. State Trooper finally gave me a repair ticket for my 20% tint. Whatever, I knew it was illegal and figured this day would come sooner or later. Anyway, about the tint removal; I searched around here and found a thread but there was a lot of contradicting going on. I'm mainly concerned with the defog lines on the back window... Anyone want to help clear things up? I've had the tint on for about a year and a half and I believe the brand name is "Solar Gard"
I only have 10 days to get it inspected, so the "wait till a hot day" tips can be thrown out my soon-to-be-untinted window. So anyone have any other tips? What the hell are #9 blades? Are there any renegade inspectors in the area who like to sign off on 20% tint? Should I fake my orgasms?
all you need is a razor blade and some soapy water in a bottle. it is not very hard to take off.
I used a hair dryer and started at one corner. As you peel, blow the air between the glass and the tint film...
Spray down the inside of your windows with water & cover the tinted side of the windows with dark colored trashbags fit to the size of the windows (kind of like tinting your windows with trashbags)
make sure the bags are completely covering the tinted side of the window.
turn your car on with the heat on real high.... it helps if it's a hot sunny day too. run the car for about a 1/2 hour/45 minutes.
remove the trashbags & peel the tint off.
What you are doing is steaming the tint off the windows.... it works really well.

the 'trash bag' method is actually meant for REAR windows with defog lines on them - and that's after the other methods have failed. It's usually done with really old flaky tint. Anything else can be scraped with a blade.
but the question was regarding side windows, which are much easier - peel back a corner and yank. scrape the remaining adhesive off with new #9 blades and some soapy water or windex.
if the film doesn't want to just yank off in one easy peice - you can either wait for a hot day and do it when the glass get boiling hot or heat it with a heat gun (hair dryers are pretty useless - it'll work, just take forever and 3 days.). Heat the outside of the glass until hot to the touch and then slowly but firmly pull the tint, the plastic will peel free and if you are 10,000% lucky, the glue will come off too - just don't bet on it.

the professional way to remove tint is using a steamer - usually the kind used for upholstery - use that, start at a corner and peel - thats the best way to do it.
tinters, correct me if im wrong (thats how ive seen it done at a shop)

As far as the de-fog lines on the back window go, my question is... Do you really even need to remove the rear tint?? Most tint laws allow you to tint the rear, but make the front driver/passenger windows illegal.
I mean, you say you have 20% tint. That's the same as the stock privacy glass on the xB. 20% on your back window can't be illegal. You probably got a ticket because the cop couldn't see the driver. To make it legal again, you probably only need to remove any tint on the front windows...
Just a thought.

I had my 20% tint on for about a year and a half, and I took it off myself b/c I wanted to go darker. I bought a bottle of tint remover from Wal-Mart, just spray on and start pulling. Doesn't leave much glue residue. Didn't have any problems with rear window either.

Steamer might work at my shop on the back window we use a few clean shop rags and almost a whole bottle of windex....... first peel off all the film and saturate the glue for a bit and wipe it off w/ a rag... continue as needed.. Gum cutter will work but if for some reason it comes in contact w/ plastic its all over for that piece.....
