A Simpson woman who surfaced earlier this month after going missing for nearly nine days died Thursday following a vehicle accident.
"We haven't even gotten over her missing yet, now this happens," said Teresa Coward, Kristy Michelle Hahn's aunt, from the family home near Simpson. "What we are feeling now is what we were feeling last week."

KRISTY MICHELLE HAHN'S van hit a utility pole at First and Washington streets.
Hahn, 22, was traveling west on First Street in a 1991 Chevrolet van about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday when she attempted to turn onto Washington Street, said Sgt. Phil Worthington of the Greenville Police Dep
artment's traffic safety unit.
Hahn's van collided with a 2002 Ford pickup truck driven by Jon Michail Angelmeyer, 32, of Greenville, traveling east on First Street, Worthington said.
The passenger side of Hahn's van struck the front driver's side portion of Angelmeyer's truck, Worthington said.
"I don't think she even saw him," he said. "She spun 180 degrees and struck the utility pole (at the southeast corner of First and Washington streets)."
Neither vehicle speed nor alcohol was thought to be a factor in the wreck Wednesday, Worthington said.
Hahn, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown to the passenger side of the vehicle after she hit the windshield of the van, Worthington said.
She was taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition Wednesday. Family spent the night at the hospital, but were never able to speak to Hahn.
"She never come to," Coward said.
Hahn was pronounced dead at the hospital Thursday morning. Angelmeyer was also transported to PCMH with non-life threatening injuries.
After disappearing April 30 following the Animated Attractions car show at the Pitt County Fairgrounds, Hahn returned to her family May 8 after she told medical staff at Onslow Memorial Hospital — where she was seeking care for strep throat — that Pitt County Sheriff's Office detectives were searching for her. She came forward after seeing at least one broadcast of her disappearance on a local news station.
Hahn told her family she left the car show at the fairgrounds with a group of friends from Jacksonville after she was stranded by her ride. The unemployed Hahn said she had stayed to surprise the family by getting a job, her mother Tammy Lloyd said in an earlier interview.
By telephone Thursday, Coward said the woman who owned the van had asked Hahn to drive the vehicle around the block as she stepped out to pay a bill downtown.
"I guess she did not think to put the seat belt back on," Coward said.
No citations had been given as of Thursday.
An investigation into the wreck is ongoing. Anyone witnessing the incident should contact officer B.C. Hill at 329-4185 or 329-431

Seatbelts have only been in cars since the late '60s, you can't expect people to just start using them right off.... sheesh......
I feel sorry for the guy that hit her. First the dog, now the other driver.... at least this walking train wreck is over.
