*Philadelphia & Tri State Area Scion Meets* Noobs Wanted

Sorry to hear that Jim. By chance, were you in the Montgomeryville area yesterday? I saw a box that looked exactly like yours. I haven't been on in awhile because we made settlement on Friday, and pretty much started gutting the house. That will consume most of my time on weekends now. But I still talk to most of you outside of hear anyway.

i just called up Nationwide (his ins) and started the claims process. the claim adjuster is going to call me back in "one business day" i know they're going to want to take it to one of their shops (faulkner scion) and i dont want that to happen...
I have 2 body shops that we deal with at clearstar. I want to take it to one of them.
I really think Nationwide is going to give me a hard time because its a custom car.

Actually....they're going to refer you to a "pro" shop which is a body shop that they always deal with, they meaning the insurance company, but if you go through one of their "pro" shops you have a garentee for everything so lets say the paint chips later on.....you take it back and they'll fix it free of charge....but on the other hand you can tell them where you want your car worked on.....its all up to you....but since its not your insurance they might be a a-holes....but let them know.....

they said something about their "blue ribbon" body shops. I called up my insurance company for advice, and they said that the blue ribbon paint is great when it comes to regular cars, not custom cars.
I'm hoping they dont give me any hassles with it. i really dont want to deal with the stress.
One thing everyone i talked to about it said was make sure i get a rental car, since the merc isnt all that reliable anymore.

Jim - bottom line, YOU run the situation, THEY are supposed to work for you! You can take it wherever you want - the problem lies in when the adjuster comes out. Here's a perfect example:
I have State Farm - my Jetta (God damn it's soul) got hit back in '04...the other driver had no insurance, so I asked my insurance agent where they would recommend taking it to get fixed in my area. They recommended a shop down the street from me, and since it was a State Farm partner (Blue Ribbon), then an adjuster was not needed, and the work could start immediately. Done, and the shop did a good job...
Fast forward to last December - the crackhead (needless to say, he was not high on your patented "Big Jim's Crack of Love") who hit me did not produce insurance right away, so I reported it to my insurance company. As you know, I have an RS2, so I didn't trust a regular body shop to fix it right, or I'd have one sweet seat and one regular tC seat....and this @$$ is too fine to sit on anything but Alcantara! Anyway, so I take it to the dealer to get fixed, since at least they'd know what was up with the RS parts, but since it wasn't a "Blue Ribbon" jawn, it would take up to 14 days to get a flippin' adjuster out...but the point is, by law, you can take it to wherever you want. It's your car, and it's their client's fault that you were hit. Don't let them tell you otherwise...and if they give you crap, get a lawyer.

Unfortunately, it's going to be a headache...wish I could tell you differently, but as you've probably heard me b1tching about here on SL, I went (and am still going through) a TON of BS with the whole thing...getting answers and reimbursements are like pulling teeth! Though at least your tire isn't done in...because they would only cover as much tread as is on the tire - i.e., let's say that your wheel was involved in the accident - the tire has 3/4 tread left, and it's worth, say, $200, they would only give you $175 for it, making you put out $25 of your own money to replace it...now it's still only $25, but the argument is - Why should you put out ANY $$ if you wouldn't have put it out until you needed a flippin' tire BEFORE the accident?!?

No prob, man. Don't take any crap from them! You get it fixed wherever you want! They are responsible, by law, to return your car to the condition that it was in prior to the incident. If they give you any guff about it, just bring up the fact that it's your car, their client hit you, and you should be able to take it ANYWHERE you want. The only downside is that it may take a bit longer to get everything done, since their "Blue Ribbon" shop is technically working for them, and your shop is working for you.

this is his personal bmw. Started out as a slate gray color, and then he painted it and put the body kit on it. Interior and stereo was all done by james, previous to clearstars inception.
