i need some help! i've been having a lot of bad luck with cars and driving lately.

first my clutch goes last week...then just this past Thursday night, i got ticketed for running a red light.

i don't mind paying the fine, but i want to go court to waive the points.

how good are my chances if i represent myself? do u think i should get a lawyer?

Hello Mr. Tuff

Trust me I had FEW tickets in my life. My experience is that the best way to avoid points in your license is to go to court, fight it and plea-bargain with them. I did it 3 times. On your ticket plea not guilty, set a court date, then go talk to the judge and just say something to the extend of I was wrongfully ticketed, I didn’t run the light I am willing to pay my fee but I do not belief I deserve any points on my license. And honestly 2 out 3 times I been there, I just had to pay the fee, the judge actually suggested for me to pay the fee and no points will be added to my license. It is a long and consuming process; so on that day u will be there about 4 to 5 hrs.

The last ticket I got was at 309 after a red robin meet in which the cop said I was doing 60 on a 45, then I paid my ticket because I didn’t want to go back up there and then I got a letter saying they added 2 points to my license (so far my insurance didn’t go up)!!! It actually went down 40 dollars a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope that helps, and the lawyer will get you off no points or even reduce the fee, but what you will be spending on a lawyer may be 2x of what the ticket was.

Did you get your transmission fix?!

hey cisco,

thanks for the information. if i can represent myself and waive the points, then screw the lawyer.

would u recommend representing myself?
does that excuse really work? hahaha...i just kinda find it hard to believe if someone said "i was wrongfully ticketed...i didn't run the light...etc". anyway, if it works it works.

when's the last time u were there? my friend told me ever since Michael Nutter became mayor, he got new prosecutors that are more strict and u have to fight a little harder to get rid of the points. i dunno how true this is...

as for my car, there was no tranny damage. i just have to replace the clutch disc...which i'm hoping to do later today!!

btw, nice avatar...that's that water ninja from Naruto right? dammit...i forgot his name...

I was there about 1 yr ago. So yes before Busta Nutter took over. Well when i said that line the judge looked at me and said "that is a bussy intersection, you probably did run the light just pay the ticket and no points will be added to your licnese be more careful next time" and i said "OK!" lol the other time, i didnt get to say anything, the judge said something simmilar like just pay the fee and no points will be added. and i just agree.

I recommend representing yourself. You dont really get to speak, when they ask you what happen, the judge already has his mind set, you speak for about 4 minutes, and mostlikely they will just say guilty, no points pay fee. and remember ur infront of a courtroom full of pepz lissening to your story, THe judge that just said juilty and didnt let me speak n said no points will be added, that judge was mad because the dude that went before me was doing like 90 on a 35 school zone, they took his license and booked him for a day in jail. then i got up I said "plea not guilty" she said something smart to me then she said "guilty, no points, step outside and pay your fee, next case"
