Default MA License Plate Frame Laws

Anyone in Massachusetts know what the law is for having a frame with a cover on our license plates? I got a couple frames for Christmas that come with a smoke cover.

nothing that covers the licence plate is allowed under mass law. not even a clear plastic protector. you cant even put smoke overlays on the head or brake lights.

Seems like the cops will pick out things like the plate, since they run plates randomly. My tails on my old car were smoked for over a year with vht nightshades and I got pulled for the cover on the plate and the cop didn't mention my tails or my 20% tint. Technically lowering your car too low is "illegal" too. Its the luck of the draw, if they want to bust your ***** they will. A clear cover should be alright, smoked plate and your asking for it.
