Up again, Down again. I'm not sure when this thing is supposed to end, but we're losing, and I just can't have that!

I kept voting yesterday and kept the XB in front. When I left last night it was still up by 18. During the night and this morning they must have put some more in for the mini. I will vote again and again today but I will still need help.

I voted about 15 times today and I will continue for as long as I am able to. If you are on DSL I believe you can revote but you have to go to 192.168.1.0 in your browser and then you are able to get a new IP. Does anybody else know about this?

Well, if you have a local network, 192.168.0.1 usually hooks you up to your router so that you can diddle with it. 192.168.1.0 just hangs and goes nowhere.

You can try ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew from a cmd prompt, but most of the time you just get your old IP address back. There seems to be no way to force a new dynamic IP address to be issued. Of course if you have a static IP address, you are out of luck anyway.

Some of that you say it's true for example releasing the TCPIP

BUT:
If you release and renew an ip of 192. you will always get the same IP address why? because its local network IP address which is assigned by your router. The DHCP IP or WAN ip is located on your router. Because you mention 192. IP i guess it handels about your Linksys router ?

How to change your IP address ?
Simple go to router site 192.168.1.1 and type in your password
go to MAC and change it to what ever you like has to be 12 digit number or letters i preffer you take some mac like this 00:24:ab:12:a2:22 this will change the configuration on your modem and then you have to call ISP to register that MAC with modem and then you have NEW ip address.

If you have Linux router with help of IP tables you can change your ip the way you want it

After ALL:ITS too much time[ 45min] for 1 vote belive me.........

scionscorpion that sounds like a lot of work. So I say you work as fast as you can so that you can vote multiple times anyways I am using my laptop to dial up and vote. connect, vote, disconnect, delete files, repeat. I better get a free bottle of cleaner out of all this work. Yesterday I pushed the XB out front and when I got in today it was down by almost 70. I am pushing it forward once again but I wont be able to work it this weekend, too busy. who ever helped me last time get on here and help me push it a couple hundred ahead.

Scionscorpion:

Well, after I get into my Netgear router config, I can release and renew from there, which accomplishes the same thing as ipconfig /release or /renew without a router inline.

Even with a dynamic IP address, I've held the same IP for months through release/renews - I get a new IP address at various times. I think it is because with Verizoff, where I live is a poverty-stricken area and there are not that many DSL users around me - I think most of my neighbors have cheapo "lifeline" phone service. There's probably almost a 1 to 1 ratio of DSL users to DSLAMs in the VZ central office in my area so it is almost like a static IP - it rarely changes. Release / renew just hooks me up again to the same connection most of the time.

Yeah, I could try monkeying with the MAC addresses but to call VZ is an hour on hold to get a human being on the other end of the line. For the purposes of doing multiple votes the fritter factor is overwhelming.

OK I got Kristi back out in first once more, :D but only by a couple votes right now. I will continue to put more until I leave from work. I hope we can get enough votes through the weekend to hold it, or maybe they will close the voting tonight!
