before you go to far go look around at what ppl have done with the tibby. there are plenty of well done cars out there. and stock for stock its a damn good competitor for the tC.

it might not be your cup of tea but that doesnt mean its a bad car. they have been dead reliable and frankly i dont think the tibby is a bad looking car.

Ill admit the new tiburon isnt bad at all but if i had to choose a car in that price rang it wouldnt be my first choice

19in wheels and sport mufflers from a dealership. do not make a company a player in the "tuner" market.

Scion is marketed as a fad. the tuning craze, they push that and that makes it "cool" but that will also be there biggest down fall when the 1st big wave of cars start getting traded in because no one wants a modded car. resale value is going to fall and none of the "cool kids" want to be seen in the out of date model and since toyota has nothing to offer ppl looking for a fun car, those buyers are going to go on to another company. so in that respect, scion fails as a brand.

in general there has been a shift from drag racing to drifting and time attack. where rwd and 4wd cars excel and scion and toyota have no players in that game. i woudlnt be surprised to see scion become the next saturn, (the cheap brand to the mother ship) in a few years

im sure back in the early 80s alot of ppl bashed on that one new Japanese company for building a cheap rwd mustang fighter....i think it was called the celica supra or something........

Like i said i admit it is sexy as hell but it wouldnt be something i would have first on my list of cars for the money

the V6 is likely just an evolution of there current one. and i bet the 2.0T has alot in common with the new EVO since Mitsu and Hyundai were both in on the creation of the "world engine"

Alot of Scion owners part their cars out too, so I wouldn't say that they've failed.

I'd have to see about the reliability and quality of that car in the long run before I'd ever want one.

From a purely visual aspect though, I dig it.

they also have a fullsize RWD sedan coming out with a V8. that coupe is built on the same platform so it could end up with some V8 power!

maybe not yet but i think word will spread that they are modded alot and that will hurt resale. also..the point of scion was to be a bridge into toyota and lexus...but they have nothing to offer. they get buyers in with cheap reliable cars but when they want to upgrade, unless they want to drive an appliance or has 35k for a lexus, they have to shop somewhere else. so in that sense scion has failed. (myself, rob, chris) even you were talking about a mini or a gti as a next car.

and the only reason scion is seen as a "tuner car" is because of the marketing and advertising dollars they put into making you think that. in reality there are plenty of better cars out there to modify.

with this car and a good ad agency Hyundai could turn there company into the performance bargain company with on two years.

I like Scion because the brand itself is fun. Parts are cheap and plentiful, the community is decent, and the gas mileage is pretty good too. However, you're right... there's nothing to bridge to in the Toyota brand. The new Matrix is ugly, and they offer nothing as far as fun cars go. I wouldn't mind a RWD IS250 with a 6-speed though.

My next car will be a Mini. I think I've pretty much made that my post-graduation goal.

damb i like the look but i heard its not smart to stretch especially on a daily driver is that correct?
