Sorry I haven't been around on the boards much lately been having life and car issues. I think the car issues are all but resolved (mechanic just replaced the battery), but I feel like my car isn't as responsive as it once was.
The problem first presented itself to me when I would be driving and the car would just shut down. Luckily I could feel it and notice it before it completely shut down because the dash lights would flickr rapidly then the RPM's would begin to drop.... I'd drop to a lower gear, rev and it'd come out of it's coma and I'd make it home.
After the car had been parked for some time.. hours or overnight, when I would attempt to start it it would not. The radio would be operation, auto door locks did their job and the dome light would come out but no power to the engine. I waited until pay day so I could pay cash for any diagnostic and repairs. I didn't take it to the dealership because they would have charged me like 100 for diagnostic and $$$ for repairs. Took it to a good mechanic I know on Easton Rd. "Roslyn Auto Care" and they ran diagnostic on the alternator and battery and deduced that the alternator was operating fine, actually operating very very hard to make up for the short comings of the battery, which they replaced. I've been driving the car since Thursday with no problem like the ones I was having of sporadic shut downs.
However, now that I have my car back, fresh battery and all, I feel like the car has very little power compared to before I had it fixed. The car feels sluggish between 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears but drives and handles like normal. I don't know if I should take the car back to the mechanic or let Sloan Toyota take all my money just to tell me "everything looks fine"
