All I use is a tripod and I just brace it against the seats... 2 legs down into the back seat foot wells, and the 3rd braced actually through the gap between the top and bottom of the back seat.

Only problem with the tripod is that it doesn't do so hot when encountered with lateral forces and a heavy camera on top.
Good for drag racing, bad for autocross.

You know, it was pretty sturdy and didn't tip over during my somewhat fast turns off the 1/4 mile strip.... i bet if I reinforced it a little it would stay better.
Also I just used a tiny canon SD750 - it's small and light so less weight on top!

LOL, thanks for giving away the "big secret", Rob. Like I said, I gotta see how the rest of this week goes along with the weekend. I'll just be on pins and needles until the deed is done.
