Default 70% front side tints...does it even make a difference?

Has anyone done this or seen it in person? (70% tint)

I'm assuming a tint meter will show stocks as being 100%?

I was thinking of that too, cause I thought front tint was legal only if you get anything higher than 70%.

Well, all I have to say is that other than stock tint . . . you absolutely cannot tint the front two windows . . . period. Now that is said . . . I have 5% in the back and 35% in the front. Do I love it! You can still see me from the outside with that much tint. But doing 70%? Don't waste your money.

Stock front side windows are about 73%, adding 70% on top of that will result in about 50% on tint meter. With rear privacy glass at about 28%, you probably would never get pulled over with 70% tint, but a ticket is certainly possible if Johnylaw is in a bad mood and breaks out the meter.

Because California laws are conservative as hell except when it comes to legal marijuana and ___ marriage.

get the clear uv tint , it is legal and it makes it much cooler inside as well as preserve your interior from fading

Yeah, CA is crackin' down hard on anything associating with car modifications. If you're going to add any tint that darkens the window even slightly in the front windows, it's illegal. 70% tint is highly unnoticeable, but if the cop feels like it, they can get you for it.

Personally, adding 70% tint is not worth the time nor the money to have it done. At the very least, if you're going to do tints, go with 50% tint, as it's unnoticeable at first glance. 35% tint is more risky, but still considered in the "safe" zone. I've been caught with 15% tints every winter when it was about to rain, so I was SOL when a cop rolled by. In the Summertime, cops never even turned their heads at me.

And like hotbox05 said, a clear UV tint would be good for your own protection.
