City Toyota / Scion
Hey Guys...
I got a chance today to head on over to the new City Toyota / Scion in Colma. I can't remember his name but as I was pulling up I noticed the sharks circling the parking lot. My intention was to test drive a new auto xD.
One of the sharks comes up to my RS 1.0 xB... First words out of his mouth - "Trading in your xB?"
Stated that I wanted to just test drive a new xD. After I parked I go to look at the xD, the guy started doing a push sell on me... Had not even taken a test drive. Was told he would give me $300 for my xB, its got 75k on it but damn... I told him no cause that what I use to advertise my site.
Then he starts telling me that he has a tC he could sell me cheap. Still no move to let me test drive.
I think he noticed he was not going to get a sale out of me and went to help another couple. At this time I walked away to calm down, I think went and found the sales manager. Explained my intentions and what happened. He set me up with another sales man who took me finally for a drive around the block.
I have never experienced the hard force sell like that in my ownership of a Scion. I have always been honest that I was either just looking or I wanted to test drive something. So far City Toyota / Scion... Your getting a big huge Thumbs down.

But Scion was supposed to be different - I think it's harder when the toyota dealership is in the same building as the scions without any differentiation between the two.
You got the old school salesmen trying to poach the scions or they treat people like crap because they get less commission on scions than on toyotas (not including the options on the scion).

I dunno Ed . .seems to me like they want to just "sell" and make whatever commission they possibly can!! You know it adds up right?? So either you seem to be a potential buyer for the salesman/woman . . or a waste of their time. Simple as that.
