Almost all aftermarket headlights are illegal under California law.

everything is pretty much against the law in CA. haha. you guys have some of the most strict laws in the nation for cars. I have yet to be bugged with my HIDS, but WA is drastically different. I would vote dont mess with this law...

Well, rly sux man. You were just struck with bad luck with a cop in bad mood. Nothing much you can do but just settle the ticket.

 

Assuming that's really DOT certified, as long as there's a "DOT-Approved" stamp on lamp/bulb-base, yeah it's legal. (

No, even if they are DOT-approved, they still do not meet all the requirements of California law. Your lights here have to be DOT-approved and no brighter and no more powerful than the stock lights. The last part is subjective, so basically a cop can pull you over for any type of bright aftermarket bulbs.

Don't worry man. It's just bad luck you got caught. Like Rod said, it is up to the cop to cite you or not. Just try to contest it and hopefully the Ref/Judge would dismiss your ticket. GL.
