Trading in my WRX wagon for an xB
Well no more Subaru wagon for me, it's getting traded in for a white xB in the next week. I've put a deposit down on a white box with auto transmission.
Can anyone recommend the best way to deal with the dealership in terms of getting the color/transmission you want and the options you desire installed? The only options I want at all are the upgraded ipod-compatible stereo system. Also, the dealership told me that the box I've put a deposit down on should show up in about a week and a half time (that was half a week ago)...how long do you think this will take in reality? Any thoughts?
Thanks, Alan

Congrats on the box!!! It shouldn't take any longer!! Just find out what is going on!!! As for the upgrades make sure you get the stock upgrades before you leave! So that if anything happens they will cover it! Once you go aftermarket your on your own!!Alan hope to se you and your box at Scion Night 3!!!

If your going to get any DVD options, it's much better aftermarket!!! You can get a Valor in dash DVD player, because you can run it while the car is in drive mode!! I know panasonic can't do that!!! Plus you can go double din or the in dash dvd!! As for the headrest dvd player. Mine came with visualogics and heard their one of the best!! So when you get your scion maybe go for that option!!! Good luck on your decision and hope too see you at Scion Night!!!

I'm passing on DVD, it's just too big of a target for thieves especially where it will get parked at work.
Well the box is in stock, go the call today! Will take delivery tomorrow of my new super box with an ipod upgraded head unit and no other options. It's going to be great. So long to the wrx...it treated me well but time to move on.

Picked up my white box on saturday, bummer! missed out on scion night and now have a year to wait until the next one. Oh well I'm really excited about the new car. My only problem so far is that the ipod connection doesn't work and I have to bring the car back to get it fixed. Anyone had problems with the video ipods connecting to the upgraded head unit?

Am I the only person that thinks this guy is crazy! A WRX is a better vehicle in every way. It looks better, handles better, is much much faster not to mention resale value. If I were to give one piece of advise to this guy..........KEEP YOUR WRX!!!!

To reply to your statement MDUBS....The box meets all my needs. Same cargo space as the wrx, uses 87 octane and gets vastly improved MPG, looks cute, handles just fine for my commute or going to the grocery store, and resale will be much better on the box than the wrx (I know, I just traded the wrx in and it depreciated big time!!) The WRX was fun while it lasted, but you simply can't use it's handling or power on public roads. Plus I have motorcycles which are more fun than any car out there, the box handles all low-speed activies plus occasional friend-and-cargo hauling. Couldn't be happier

The box was the better choice for me as I don't like to drive fast and wanted an economical choice. If you get a WRX, prepare to drop lots of money in insurance, gas (premium octane only ), depreciation/cost of the vehicle, and other. By other, I mean my clutch was already replaced once under warranty along with the flywheel, the transmission synchro gears were replaced once under warranty and continued to grind and shift poorly until I traded it in. So factor in new clutch and transmission internals in the cost of the wrx....and that's if you don't drive it hard! If you drive it hard or do any kind of autocross/drag racing, prepare to change the clutch frequently, let alone the AWD driveshafts which were prone to breaking.
Trust me I drove the heck out of the wrx and had lots of aftermarket parts installed ;) the box is my current platform for four wheeling and is giving me as big of a smile as the wrx when it was new
If you have any other questions about the wrx, ask away as I did a bunch of stuff to mine and had a friend who wrecked his twice and had lots of aftermarket stuff done, and we did all installations ourselves as long as we had the tools!
Cheers, Alan

The Bay Area Subaru community is actually pretty big. (i-club.com is the best in the region)
LOVIN THE BOX, my commutes are a lot more enjoyable now. This car gives me room to breathe. Just need to get the ipod hookup fixed at the dealership saturday and I'll be even more happy! -I pulled out the plastics off at the ports behind the shifter and they're all good, must be they didn't plug in the ipod port into the back of the head unit!-

As I said in the begining welcome to the family! Glad you chose to go with a box! Last year, before they end this model! It's already a classic. I had a ford f150 lariat fully loaded. And a e430 mercedes sport sedan. I gave my brother the f150 and bought myself the box. Loved it ever since. I'm a big guy that enjoys the comfort, space, and the availability to use the box for cargo. Great gas mileage and so many ways to customize the box. The wrx are made for the guys and gals for spped and handling. But as you said alot of tranny problems and time and maintenace is needed. As long as you love the car you purchase, it doesn't matter what other people say! So enjoy and would love to see you and your box at upcoming meets!! PS...I most def kept the e430. Once in a while, I have the need for speed!!!
