So factor in new clutch and transmission internals in the cost of the wrx....and that's if you don't drive it hard! If you drive it hard or do any kind of autocross/drag racing, prepare to change the clutch frequently, let alone the AWD driveshafts which were prone to breaking.
Thanks for the info Alan!
I am actually thinking of getting rid of the box for a WRX or a EVO. But I'm doing it for the AWD. I goto Tahoe once a week in the winter. Want something that will get me better gas milage than an SUV (FJ Cruiser). Now I need to look into all the points you made.
Thanks Again,
Scott

It was a wrx wagon. At one point it dyno'd at 216whp, it was a good sports car that was used several times to move furniture, mattresses, and more. Also used it to go snowboarding at Tahoe and learned how to drive on snow and ice with it.

Anyone used their Box to go to Tahoe? How does it hold up, and did you use chains?

Cheers, Alan

I've taken my xb to tahoe many times. It works great. Chains are fine unless you drop your box, then it becomes a pain. The traction control works great in the snow. Drove back from Mammoth last year, the morning after a storm without using chains at all.

Wow and you have massive rims on your box too! Good to know it can survive it! But I guess with only a hundred horses on tap it's easy to control.
