Default 104.9 FNKY Monkey X-Games

The feedback from the Scion Owners Loyalty Event was so strong, I am curious about taking a different direction this year for the regional Scion sponsored events... now that there is an established and active Scion Owners Community, why not tap into that for ideas on upcoming events. You are "in the trenches" and it seems odd for us to make all these decisions about events expecting people to respond when posting here is pretty easy and information can change hands quickly. This is the time of year when the calendar starts to fill up. I have been kicking around ideas with Funky Monkey regarding a indoor BMX competition at the Thrill Zone in T-Town featuring both local and not so local riders and concert featuring bands from the "Garage Monkey". These are very sketchy details however I got approval from Scion Corporate to move forward, this is where I would like your help... BRAINSTORM PEOPLE>>>> The more Scions we get there, the more people notice Scions.... Though I work at a dealership and happen to sell these tastey morsels... these events are designed to promote the Scion Brand.. Thanks in advance...!! Proposed Dates are 2/17-2/19

BTW... Battle of the Imports at Pacific Raceways July 8th

Well...from my standpoint, any event before at least April my car won't be at. That doesn't mean that I won't be there, but just wanted to mention that.

I think an event like this would be pretty cool to go to though.

Is there a potential for a car show this early?

Well, that particular weekend there is a show in Portland. I don't know how many people are going to go to that one though. It's the Import Motion show that is together with the hot rod show.

Winter time is tougher to get more cars out. Especially if it's going to be outside. In the past, there has been shows in late February/early March. These are kinda the kick-off months to shows. Since this would be more targeted towards Scions than other cars, it would more depend on what the owners felt like doing.

I personally wouldn't have a problem doing an outside show in the winter, as long as there is somewhere to sit if it starts raining...other than in my car.

Good, no reason to miss Sittin Pretti's Summer Slam 13 then on Aug. 28th.

and the NW Fish Food banks 2nd annual car show on the 22 of April,, plus many many more!!

I would be down for showing thie early in the year. Its always good to get a jump on the summer shows and stuff. Kinda like the edgy feel of the event too. Might be pretty sweet.

The only concern I would have with a BMX competition or anything else "x-games(ish)" is that it may limit the amount of people that want to participate.

Baseball and many other sports are more generic and have a larger following.

Whereas an x-games approach would bring more of the "target population" it's a more specific field of interest. Cooler to watch? Yes. Loved by the same amount of the masses? Probably not...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there wouldn't be a big turnout. I just don't think it would be the same scale as Exposed '05 at Safeco

This does not have any impact on the plans for the Owners Loyalty Event... completely separate event...

Oh...

Well...

In THAT case...

My official opinion is something similar to what your avatar is doing at the moment.

I have a friend IN a band "Red X" which is more local and he's in Scikotics (has a PW xB) If the regional Scion offices would be interested in sponsoring a band, I could talk to Jason and pass some contact info out so Scion and Red X could get in touch...

That way it kinda stays... in the family, I guess.

This event is kind of a test bed for a much larger project that may include Scion, along with a couple of other fairly large brands and some bands... I hate to be mysteriously vague but there really is very little traction at this point. And, due to recent setbacks with one of the bands.... I doubt we would be looking at this year anyway. That could of course change quickly.

I was asking because that could make for a cool event. A more mainstream band that alot of people might know at an outdoor event would be cool.

The only thing you run into is people have certain likes for music, and not others.
