OK, looking at the list, we need someone to bring a large bag of charcoal and fluid.

I'll be bringing some nicely dried hunks of wood for the fireplace, so at least we can roast hot dogs...

Took a drive up Spirit Lake Highway today, around 30 miles up. Roads look good that far up. Possibly will still be some snow drifts up at Johnston Ridge. 2 weeks away, keep spreading the word everyone.

They usually have a group that meets at the Star Lake park and ride and cruises down together.

Mark your calendars, plan what you are bringing, get ready, the Fifth Annual Mt. St. Helens Cruise and Potluck is coming!

__________________

When: June 5, 2011 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM

What: Meet up and cruise to Johnston Ridge Observatory, the official Mt. St. Helens tourist spot, followed by a potluck picnic at Sequest State Park on the way back. (We have the big covered area, so weather doesn't matter.)

Where:
  • Primary Meet Point for the cruise to Johnston Ridge Observatory is at the Shell Station at I-5 Exit 49 at 10:00 AM
  • North Meet Point is in the parking lot in front of WinCo, 72nd and S Hosmer at 8:15 AM, just off I-5 Exit 129 in Tacoma (this is the usual Tacoma M&G location). We will leave this meet point at 8:30, heading south on I-5.

Who: All of you folks are invited. This is not exclusively Scion - we will have multiple makes rolling with us. It's sponsored this year by Brandon of GeekWerks and he'll be driving his Yaris.

We will be BBQing stuff and eating like it's our last meal. If you can, bring along some food to share - it's a potluck.

Partial sign-up list so far:

1. Tomas +0 -- Mustards, mayo, horseradish, wasabi, ketchup, onion, pickles, relishes, cheeses, etc.
2. Spencer +0 -- Plates, cups, utensils, etc.
3. Rob and Shirley--2 boxes of hamburgers, Shirley also said she would make a large salad of some sort.
4. Ashley & Pete - - Chips & cookies
5. Rick & Jennie -- Hamburger buns
6. Brandon & Pera (astroman) +2 maybe -- Bottled Water
7. Andy & Mercedes -- sweets of some sort
8. Brian and Joe and will bring some sort of beans
9. Tyler & Brett - - soda + water
11. Steve (sdsnybny) home made dessert
12. scott +family - home made 7 layer dip and torilla chips like last year everyone seemed to eat it up
13. Justin (DJ_Moonbass) johnsonville bratts. maybe some sandwhich wrapps.
14. Simon - Sandwich platter and stuff(Costco or something)
15. Rick + 1 - Soda/chips & maybe something else,but not sure what yet.
16. r2d2michael (2 people) deep fry some bbq chicken wings on the spot with home made honey bbq....
17. DJ & Isaac: we'll bring a big desert

(There are others coming, also, signed up on other sites.)

Let folks know, get them involved, it is ALWAYS fun!

Details:

On the way from Castle Rock to St. Helens the group will pass by Seaquest State Park (only a few miles from the start of the run at Castle Rock).

If folks want to make a quick detour into the park on the way TO Johnston Ridge, they can drop off any foods or whatever they brought so whoever stays at the Seaquest base camp (me plus whoever decides to or comes down early) can set all that stuff out and have things more or less ready to go when folks get back...

(Since we have the main area, that means we have power, so if anyone wants to leave a Crockpot™ of stuff simmering, or whatever, that's OK, too.)
________

Bring your FRS/GMRS Walkie-Talkies if you have them. The cruise will be on Channel 5, no code. There will be some spare units available if you don't have any - ask at the meet points.

I've done a little, sub and custom sub pods, amp, new springs to go lower, wood rear deck, tires and wheels, exhaust, the basics, lol.

We are leaving around 0930 from Kelso, don't need help with the BBQ, going to go to wallyworld and pick up a cheap one that we can take apart after use and box back up. Keep it for this event each year, plus any other outting that will require a bbq grill. Ours weighs a ton, just too big to be moving around.

yeah, we were there the other day and saw them, decided that it would make a good Scion bbq so we will pick it up later with charcoal and lighter fluid. They are less than $20, so we aren't spending a bunch on it.
