Cracked Windshield

Cracked Windshield
Both of our Scions have gotten cracked windshields within the first 1500 miles, anyone else have major window cracking problems on their xB's. I understand the angle of the windshield has a lot to do with it, but there has got to be some sort of a fix. I know Diamond Fusion strengthens the windshield, but it's very expensive.

Wow, that didn't take long at all! Scary!
Were they rock chips originally and then cracked, or the glass just started cracking? I got one rock chip that was repaired as fast as I could, and its been fine since.

Yes, seems almost all of us xB owners have or have had window chips or cracks. I'm not entirely sure what the solution is, if any, but if you're into reading thread after thread about it, you can do a search.
I got a chip in my windshield at about 3k miles. I got one of those road side stand places to fix it for free as my insurance covered it. I can still see the chip though and it drives me mad.

I got a rock chip (well, my daughter got a rock chip when she borrowed my car one day and drove down the back road.....) and this guy who does windows came and fixed it so perfectly that I can't even see where it was. I'm hoping that is the last one, but maybe I need to drive on rockless roads only??
Drove to Burlington today and bucked the wind hitting me from all sides. That was a scary experience in a little box...... But she hung in there and didn't fly away unlike hubby's brand new Scion hat that flew UP off his head and over the Ashley Furniture store (where it probably will live on the roof ) ..... :o

On our first box I don't remember any chips and we got rid of it at 24K miles. Mo seems to remember getting them but I'm a girl with a short-term memory.
On our second box, I got my first chip on the way to Exposed last year. I figured it was almost winter so I'd wait to get the glass replaced until it cracked.
Several months later I still have no cracks but I now have 4 chips total (the rest from post-storm road sanding). They are deep and spider-like but they never chiped. I'm almost to 20K miles. I probably just get a new windshield in the next month or two.
Tomas has some great tips on windshields because the Toyota glass is "soft" compared to some other brands.
Tomas...I defer to your wise wisdom here!
