I would also recommmend a standalone EMS as well over anything, but they are very spendy vs piggy back. I personally have the Dezod AEM EMS Standalone

that's better than mine - i paid 2200-2400 (can't remember exactly) for my install, but that did include custom piping for the intercooler

OMG 1600 just for install. I think I paid $500 for the kit, $150 for front mount install. and liek $80 a gauge. This was before i knew anything about cars, but we installed michaels greddy turbo kit in a day, he has the widebody tc

$1600 is pretty steep. Save the install money do it yourself and get the AEM EMS, the harness, and pay to have it towed to an authorized AEM tuner.

i was thinking 1600 was a bit steep. i do have the option of a buddy of mine who works at a shop that could do the work for half the price. this would leave me extra cash to get a different ems. i guess eating the 100 dollars i put down as a deposit isn't too bad...

^use it for something else! Store credit should be transferable...maybe towards a trans cooler or radiator?

I had issues with tuning my car with emanage as well. The main issue was bceause I was tuning with the stock MAF sensor that came with the car. I purchased a greddy MAP sensor and wired it up to the emanage and tuning off of pressure made it easy. The tune works great but if you have the money, I recommend a standalone like AEM (what everyone else has said in previous posts). The downside with emange atleast for me is that there is a split second lag while in partial boost before the emange actually kicks in (which could be dangerous for the engine)

hey all. in regards to intec racing. i love them, my tc is the main boosted tc that they work with. when i first went to intec i had the greddy e-manage blue from previously.

thing was a nightmare, hell go look at greddy's website, alot of the features require additional sensors or harnesses from greddy sold seperatly. its a POS.

i now have the AEM FIC, it was a ton better. but imo still not good enough. as everyone has said thus far standalone is the way to go, in the long run. it'll be more expensive (aem fic w/PNP harness $600ish. AEM EMS $2,000ish) but the headache you prevent is worth the extra inital cash. ive got my eyes on the new dezod allan philips ecu, cant wait to order it.

ive always been into the performace side of cars rather than the flashy/show side.

you have an auto trans, which is a bit of a limitation imo.

theres an old saying that speed costs money, how fast do you want go?

its mostly true. sure you can spend money on just power i.e a turbo kit, or nitrous. or something that claims it gives lots of power. but if you dont spend money on imo the more important parts like a better clutch to handle the increase in power/torque. or building the bottem end to handle more boost. aftermarket valve train for the higher rpms. etc etc.

if you want to modify your car, its not cheap and never will be.
be prepared to shell out money for stuff that breaks or w/e

anywho. intec is a great shop, only shop that touches my car. lawrence (owner/tuner) knows his stuff and focuses on longevity rather than just high numbers.
i dont recall there ever being another tuner at intec, lawrence has always done it. and i dont recall a chad.

oh and almost forgot, $1,600 for install and gauges sounds about right, did you get the apexi AVC-R? if so thats $600 right there, just food for thought. thats the boost gauge/controller, ive got it in my tc, its awesome.

my names Travis, they all know me down there.

i drive the car that you all know of.

peace,
Travis
