Default portland red light tickets??

so I'm thinking I got snapped today... anyone got one of these yet? I was behind a big box truck and didn't see the light was yellow as I was turning right on burnside (from grand on the eastside) it turned red as I went thru and saw the flash flash, because I was over the white line am I safe or am I screwed and stuck with the $245 ticket?

I would think if you were over the white line you are safe, but I am not sure. Did someone behind you go through? because if they did then it might have flashed for them?

You so got snapped!! I have recieved so many of these at work and portland just LLOOOVVEESS to pass them out like candy....I would expect a ticket in your mailbox within a week and a half..what's great about these tickets is that they get a pic of you driving AND your plate...so they are hard to deny

When this technology first came out you could deny it even looking straight at your picture...there was a loop hole...but that was YEARS ago...they have since closed that loop hole. I got snapped by photo radar years ago in Beaverton. Turns out the van was 2 feet outside beaverton city limits so they couldn't enforce the ticket....got lucky there. Haven't had a ticket in forever....want to keep it that way too ::::knocking on wood:::::

you maybe be able to contest it... get it lowered maybe... but then they could come back and say you were following to close to the truck if you couldnt see the light...

dunno about them tackin on a front plate violation tho...

^I thought bout that too, so I'm going to jimmy rig the plate to the front and snap some pics.. Its a fairly new bumper cause I wrecked the car, could just tell them that I am waiting to get a new fixed plate... I'm going to try and contest it the best I can or at least see if I can get traffic school for it cause I haven't had any tickets since I was 20

GL Janessa...hopefully you can at least get it lowered if not traffic school.

If you were turning right, the likelyhood of the cameras flashing was not for you. They usually don't go off for right hand turns. UNLESS, there are no right hand turns on a red light at that intersection. Depending on the picture, you can contest that you stopped first, then went. Which is perfectly legal barring that no turn on red light sign (if there is one).
You might want to check (unless you already know) to see if there is a sign there.

well if you have the front plate janesa use some of that sticky backed velcro ...snap a few pics and then gently pull the velcro off the bumper and lic. plate
just dont leave it on very long..

good luck....

They have seatbelt school - I did a No No and had no seat belt on in the back seat of my old car and a State trooper saw us. I thought there was no worries if you were in the back seat without a seat belt. Oops!

If you were turning right I think you would be ok but that is speculation. Hope you don't get any mail from the city of Portland anytime soon.

they still offer the traffic school if the judgs approves.. There is no sign that says no turn on red... oh well guess I'll just suck it up and take care of it, if it shows up

I'd guess they got someone behind you. Didn't know they had them on the east side. I live in Beaverton so I'm really careful, but at work in the Milwaukie area I haven't seen them. At least not where I'm at.

My cousin would use the drive time to Vancouver from Kalama to put on her make-up, she was scary, driving 85 so that she wouldn't be late and doing make-up, yikes. Good thing this was before cell phones, she would've been on that too, lol.

Man I can hardly stand up and put on make-up, trying to do it in the car would probably be a bad idea! I'd end up with mascara on my windows and eyeshadow all over the place
