Probably just gonna end up removing it, if I get pulled over I will make an excuse then put it back on later, probably with that relocator.

Alright, well. Its been a few weeks and pretty good news. I bought bumper plugs that match my color and the car looks better without running with the plate. And I have driven behind cops and passed by cops driving normally and they seem cool about it. Ill see how long my "luck" lasts.

Yeah, I got a front plate ticket the day I put my wheels on, but since then I made my tint darker, didn't put my plate on.. and a ton of other stuff they'd want to get me for, and nothing, just don't drive like a d-bag and you'll stay under their radar.

I drive in the Issaquah/Bellevue area, had no issues with no plates. I had a built C5 Vette (650hp+ with full exhaust) and stage 2 STi (HKS turboback) and didn't run into any police trouble. The most I got harassed is when I had emmisions on my vette. The guys had bets if it would pass or not lol

Last year my car was hit in a parking lot, the body shop had to replace my front bumper, I had them NOT drill the holes for my plate, I haven't been harassed once yet by police.....but they cant make me put a plate up front any way cause there are no holes, I'll have to look up the RCW but I'm sure the front plate is not required if you don't have holes to mount it....that being said, though you have paint matched plugs for your holes, they could still give you crap about it since technically the holes are still there.....my advice...either run the plate re-locator from cliff (I have one that an old scion community member [BlackBox06] made for me) they look great, or take your bumper to a body shop and have them use body filler on the holes and have the bumper re-sprayed (obviously the more expensive route)

Thanks to Thomas's sticky thread about the WSP cheat sheet....

http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.16.240

Key things to note

"Each vehicle license number plate shall be placed or hung in a horizontal position at a distance of not more than four feet from the ground"

" In cases where the body construction of the vehicle is such that compliance with this section is impossible, permission to deviate therefrom may be granted by the state patrol."

yeah, you have to get a written letter from the WSP to not have one due to vehicle configuration.

Since it was an ODII the plugged in the scanner and it passed (I had LS1 Edit so I tuned that error code off anyway in the tune ). They check under the car and saw my cat and it barely passed the sniffer test lol. I had it lowered an 1.5 inches and didn't want crawl under to replace the cat every emission test.

Got tagged yesterday near my house, got a warning. Id keep the plate off but its too close to my house and running into the same cop is fairly likely IMO. I will try my luck next year in California :D

I talked to the cop after and he said in the dash is illegal and he said it needs to be 4 inches at most off the ground.

In at least one thing, your LEO is full of it.

From RCW 46.16.240:

"Each vehicle license number plate shall be placed or hung in a horizontal position at a distance of not more than four feet from the ground and shall be kept clean so as to be plainly seen and read at all times."

Hmm, I told him 12 inches max because of trucks and stuff like that is what I heard and he was like "no, less, 4 inches"
